The lcd display is very sensitive to any light touch and the characters get marked although this dissipates after some time.... is this normal?

Yes it is normal as it is a LCD - thus contains the word "liquid" in it (the "L" in LCD) - if you compress your screen, you will dissipate the liquid under it - I would advise you NOT to touch or push on your screen as it might damage it at the end - also the screen is not gigantic so it should not be too difficult to not touch it. I received my HP 12 with a thick sturdy leather case so my screen is protected 100% while travelling. It is best to carry it that way.

Are the keys still rubber and printed all the way through to avoid fade?

The keys are hard plastic and engraved. Hence, there is no chance of the characters rubbing of. When pressed, they have a nice click. I have been using HP calcualtors since 1968, both scientific and financial, and would never use anything else. They have never let me down and the only reason I have had to buy replacements is when thay have been damaged or stolen. They are very robust. Robert

Does it come with manual the 280 page version?

No, it comes with the abbreviated version. The full manual is available on line. Having used this calculator for 35 years, I know what functions I want to use. Chris
