Dimensions 13666 Counted Cross Stitch Victorian Charm, Multi-Colour

I admit, I am not a cross stitch expert. I have done a couple of simple pieces and I'm ok with the basics. I can follow a printed pattern and make neat crosses and edging. I can finish the thread well so the back looks neat. What I don't have is a lot of experience but I wanted a statement piece. Something worth hanging on the all and saying "I made this!" So I bought this Victorian house cross stitch. It comes packed in a 12" clear plastic bag with the dark blue cloth and ready sorted coloured thread. The pattern is printed out in black and white and is easy and clear to see what colour goes where. It would have been easier to have it ready printed on the cloth but the edging and highlights and other detail shown on the counted pattern make it worth it. The actual stitching is mostly very straightforward. There are single and double thickness stitches and lots of blocks of the same colour which makes progress rapid. I am part way through right now and I will update the review when it is finished but I can say already that it is a worthwhile piece and very attractive. The lights and cats in the windows add a lot of character to the picture and there is lots to discover.

This is really lovely and so hard. 16 count is not easy to do but it did make me go and get my eyes tested and some new specs. I can only do it a little at a time as it is very complicated. Not for the inexperienced stitcher. A great project and now I have spent some time doing it can see my efforts paying off. Dimensions have a habit of mixing threads - which I do not personally like - just use a shade so messy putting two together. They also attached the threads to the card and I have started to move these to the card with holes and label up myself - especially for the mixed threads. Will be lovely when finished but going to take some time.

Nice kit. Still sewing and cotton frays a bit bit overall pleased with it.

This was just the challenge I needed, a fairly experienced cross-stitcher. I needed an extra light over it as it's quite small but really enjoyed stitching it. Had it framed and it looks like a piece of art on the wall. Would recommend for someone looking for a challenge.

This is going to take a long time to finish. The instructions are in tiny print you could do with a magnifying glass. You will definitely need cards to wrap threads around once removed from their card. Would not purchase again.

Loved sewing this quite difficult at times because it is on navy aida but feeling very proud of the finished article. One downside was there wasn't enough black thread so had to go buy more to complete. (Picture shows work with Just some French knots do)

This project is absolutely gorgeous!! The fabric is Navy Blue, so if you are a beginner, you may want to put a white towel or pillowcase on your lap or use a strong work lamp so you can see. So far, this project has been awesome... Im working on the window with the cat in it now- as the roof below was the starting point. I tried to put it on my qsnap frame, but the fabric is not wide enough (I have a 11X11 frame). So I am using a large hoop instead. No problems so far, all of the thread is presorted and put on cards, the kit comes with a needle, and the pattern is fairly easy to read. Backstitch will be no problem as it can be done as the project progresses instead of waiting until the very end. Some of the colors (the lights in the window and the pink on the house itself) has 1 strand of 2 colors held together, but that was no biggie for me, as I just made my own bobbins and color coded them myself. I cant wait until I am further along... this project is turning out to be beautiful! Thank you, Dimensions, for once again producing a beautiful kit for everyone to enjoy!
