I definitely noticed a difference with this cream. My skin felt much clearer and seemed to glow. C + E Antioxidant Protect + Repair Moisturiser’ from niche luxury beauty brand Sunday Riley is probably best for dry skins not prone to sensitivity. It contains some very good emollients with squalane, vegetable oil, glycerine, jojoba esters, lecithin, and shea butter, with a good amount (5%) of vitamin C in the form of tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, along with skin repairing sodium hyaluronate. Vitamin C has many proven benefits for the skin, and like any emollient moisturiser this hydrates the skin and softens the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles.Where this formula takes a few missteps for me is with the added lingering fragrance and potentially irritating fragrant plant extracts it contains along with the tangerine peel oil, and lime pearl which contains a high amount of limonene and bergapten, known skin sensitizers. In addition, if used as an anti-ageing day cream this lacks a high broad spectrum SPF, but of course, it could be used under an SPF product or as a night treatment. The headline antioxidants in this moisturiser are good to see in the formula, but they are delicate ingredients and let down by the unhygienic jar packaging. Remove the fragrant ingredients and improve the packaging and this would be a much better product. Note, this retails for around £60 in the UK.Why Jar Packaging Is A Problem.Good modern skincare formulations include antioxidants like vitamin C, cell-communicating, and skin-repairing ingredients. However, you won’t get the benefits of these ingredients to your skin if the product you are using comes in a jar. This is because these ingredients are not stable, which means they won't be effective if exposed to light and air, which is exactly what happens when you take the lid off a jar. Hygiene is, of course, another issue; dipping your fingers or a spatula into a jar transfers bacteria into the product, which also causes the important ingredients to further deteriorate, making them less effective. Skincare products really need to be in an opaque tube or airless sealed pump dispenser, particularly at this price point.
