The spec says up to 5 meters and although I didn't try at that range I did try at about 10 feet and it was fine.Dodgy sensor perhaps? **Q: Can i hear ultrasonic sound with these ?** A: Do you mean can you hear the 40 KHz ultrasound emitted by the unit, then the answer is no. As others here have said, it is above the normal hearing range of a person. Twice as high over a young person and about four times as high as I, an older person can hear. (I blame discos and over powerful ear phones!) If you mean, can you use the device as a microphone to pick up ultra sound, like perhaps a bat's hunting sound, then as the unit stands, again no. One of the transducers emits a 40 KHz sound that is reflected off an object and picked up by the other transducer. There are three ICs on the board to make this happen, but they get in the way of connecting the transducers up to say an amplifier. The purpose of the whole device as you probably know is to use ultrasound to measure distances and that is pretty much all it can do when used with an Arduino or similar microcomputer. However, if you were to remove the transducers from the board you would be able to connect them up to something like an oscilloscope and see the display of any ultrasound around the operating frequency of the transducers. The problem is that they are tuned to work at about 40KHz and don't work very well below 39KHz or above 41KHz.
