Review: Excellent Addition to Baking Kit - I am a hobby baker and make multiple theme cakes for friends and family for fun. As with all hobbies over the last few years I've bought more kit and that in itself makes everything easier. I have had a similar cake wire cutter many years ago that was cheap and rubbish. However it's apparent as with many things paying a little extra is often worth it for quality. Having read the reviews on this I've plumped for this one. Previously I'd favoured the hold a knife against the cake and turn on turntable cutting method which although effective is fiddly and if your knife is even slightly tilted gives a not wholly level cut and I wouldn't feel confident doing multiple tortes with that method. I am extremely impressed with this Wilton cutter. It is so easy to use with a gentle sawing motion it cut through brilliantly and is so even and smooth. The cake I'm cutting is a vanilla sponge that's had vanilla syrup dropped through it so is much moister than an average sponge and softer than a denser cake like Madeira yet it cut through perfectly. I would happily feel confident using this to do several layers in a single cake as it's so precise. It was one of the few that I found with feet on too so no danger of scratching your surface and the big handle allows good control. All in all a brilliant buy and very pleased I invested in this one.
Review: Why didn't I get this fantastic Cake Leveler before? - After seeing the video, I decided to purchase two of these Cake Levelers - one for my Mother and the other for myself as both of us were struggling to cut a round cake in half accurately and had since turned to tray bakes where our slices of cake resembled fat fingers - but at least the filling inside looked more or less level. Now the world has changed with this fantastic gizmo and we are back to baking round cakes again! Its a complete doddle to use - you simply set the wire to the desired height. To set the wires - gently push the side bars inwards - one at a time, the wire slackens and you can then either push the wire guide up or down. Once done, put you hand on the top of the cake which is on a flat surface, and gently make a sawing motion with the leveler keeping the plastic feet on the worktop surface at all times. The result - a perfectly cut cake with no wavy bits. It can cope with cakes up to 10 inches wide and the wire can adjust up to 2 inches - so plenty of flexibility I highly recommend this cake leveler and have no hesitation in giving it a good 5 star rating - its just fantastic, worth every penny and I am currently kicking myself for not purchasing one sooner!

**Q: How tall of a cake with this leveler work on?**
A: The leveler is meant to slice through cake layers that come from directly from a baking pan.  A 4.5 inch tall X 10.5 inch wide layer could pass through the leveler and be trimmed by it.  The highest (setting 1) the cutting wire is meant to go  is 2.5 inches above the counter surface.  Therefore thickest even slice expected would be 2.5" (2 1/2 inches).  (I supposed there's a bit of leeway to get another 1/2 inch from it, if you wanted to slide the wire above 1, you could get a 3" thick layer.)   The lowest wire setting is 0.75 (3/4) inch from the surface.  If your layer fits, but is too tall to trim the top on a first pass, you can make your first cut, you'll have no trouble slicing the top off on a second pass.  I have a narrow wire cooling rack that I use to lift my layers (baked in 10" diameter round pans) when I pass the cutter through them.  Lately I've made a few American Flag cakes requiring 13 thin layers (alternating red and white).  I couldn't imagine attempting it without the leveler.  I get neat thin layers.  Enjoy.

**Q: And this is better than a knife? I've always trimmed with a knife and lifted off the piece that I cut off. How is this better? I don't get it.**
A: Mine broke this weekend, after using it for almost four years and making over 150 cakes! After it broke this weekend i had to try cutting my cake layers with a regular knife, OMG, i hated my cake, lol, it wasn't completely straight/level...definitely purchasing another one immediately, right now!!! I can't live without this!

**Q: Can you buy the metel wire sepretly?**
A: I've looked I've on their site & haven't found them. I've goggled them & didn't find anything. I can't say no for sure but it doesn't look like they're available.

**Q: I'm confused about the "up to 10 inches" because I've seen a few different descriptions of this.  Will this fit over a 9x13 cake?**
A: Yes!  I used it on a cake made in large disposable jelly roll pans.  Much larger than 9x13

Once done, put you hand on the top of the cake which is on a flat surface, and gently make a sawing motion with the leveler keeping the plastic feet on the worktop surface at all times. The result - a perfectly cut cake with no wavy bits. It can cope with cakes up to 10 inches wide and the wire can adjust up to 2 inches - so plenty of flexibility I highly recommend this cake leveler and have no hesitation in giving it a good 5 star rating - its just fantastic, worth every penny and I am currently kicking myself for not purchasing one sooner!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sturdy and easy to use

This leveller may look similar to all the others but it is sturdy, easy to use and it works really well for doing the job it’s made for. I’ve had other makes previously but this definitely is the best of the small cake cutters. It cuts smoothly without much difficulty. It’s easy to hold with slipping and doesn’t hurt your hand when you hold it. It doesn’t tear at your cakes either as the blade is serrated not just a wire. I would definitely recommend it. It’s very good value for money too.
