Bang for buck
I’ve been genuinely impressed with Amazon Basics AA and AAA batteries. They deliver consistently strong, reliable power across everything I’ve used them in — from TV remotes and wireless keyboards to game controllers, smart home sensors, and kids’ toys. Performance has been comparable to far more expensive branded batteries, with no noticeable drop-off in power or premature failures. What really stands out is their reliability over time. They hold charge well in low-drain devices, don’t leak, and feel dependable even when left installed for months. For everyday household use, they simply work exactly as you’d expect a good battery to work — no fuss, no surprises. The value proposition is exceptional. You get dependable performance at a price that makes sense, especially if you go through batteries regularly. They’re ideal for bulk buying without feeling like you’re compromising on quality. Overall, these are batteries you can buy with confidence. Practical, reliable, and excellent value — Amazon Basics AA and AAA batteries have become my default choice and I see no reason to switch back to more expensive alternatives.

Amazon Basics 12-Pack Rechargeable AA NiMH High-Capacity Batteries, 2400 mAh, 1.2V, Recharge
I decided to switch properly to rechargeable batteries after realising how many disposables we were getting through every year. Between Xbox controllers, remotes, wireless mouse, children’s toys and the odd torch during power cuts, it was adding up. I went for this 12-pack of Amazon Basics 2400 mAh AAs because the price per battery was very reasonable, especially compared to big-name brands. The fact they arrive pre-charged is genuinely useful. I was able to put them straight into a controller and a bedside lamp without waiting around for a full charge first. That convenience makes a difference. In terms of compatibility, they’ve worked perfectly in everything I’ve tried — standard AA sizing means they slot straight into controllers, torches, fairy lights, clocks and cameras without any fitting issues. They sit snugly in the battery compartments and make proper contact first time. Performance has been consistently strong. In higher-drain devices like game controllers and LED torches, they hold up well. Brightness in torches and battery-powered lights has been steady and comparable to good disposable batteries — no dim, weak glow or early fade. Even as they start to run lower, the power output feels stable rather than dropping off suddenly. The 2400 mAh capacity is noticeable. They last longer than older rechargeables I’ve owned, especially in devices that get regular use. They also hold charge well when sitting unused. I’ve had a few stored for a couple of weeks and they still had plenty of power left. As for weight, they feel solid but not overly heavy. In hand they have that reassuring density you’d expect from a decent rechargeable battery, but they don’t make controllers or smaller devices feel bulky or unbalanced. Long term, the value is where these really make sense. Being able to recharge them hundreds of times will easily outweigh the initial cost, and it’s far better than constantly throwing away single-use batteries. Overall, reliable, widely compatible, steady brightness output and excellent value for money. These have become my default choice and I wouldn’t go back to disposables now.

A Little Pricey but a Quality Battery Set
The Amazon Basics 16 Pack Rechargeable AA NiMH High Capacity Batteries, 2400 mAh, have been a dependable choice for us so far. In terms of performance, they have done exactly what we need them to do. They arrived pre charged, charged up again without issue, and have successfully held their charge through repeated use. We have recharged them many times, and they continue to perform consistently. For everyday household devices like remotes, wireless accessories, and small electronics, they have been reliable and durable. Compared to many other well known brands, the pricing is better. Right now, this set works out to roughly 1 € per battery, which is not unreasonable for 2400 mAh rechargeables. I still feel they sit about 15 to 20 percent higher than they ideally should. Sustainable products often appeal to people who care about reducing waste, though the upfront cost can be a real barrier for many households. More competitive pricing would make it easier for families to justify switching from disposable batteries, even if the long term savings are clear. Build quality feels solid, and we have not experienced early failures or noticeable degradation beyond what you would normally expect over time. The 2400 mAh capacity is strong for higher drain devices, and they have handled regular use well. Overall, these are dependable rechargeable batteries that perform as advertised. With slightly sharper pricing, they would be an even stronger value. As it stands, I would still buy them again if needed.

Reliable, Long-Lasting Batteries — I’ve Ordered These Multiple Times
These Amazon Basics rechargeable AA batteries are excellent. I’ve ordered them multiple times now, and they’ve been consistently reliable every time. The 2400 mAh capacity lasts a long time, whether I’m using them in controllers, toys, cameras, or household devices, and they hold their charge well between uses. They recharge quickly, perform just as well as more expensive brands, and have saved me a lot of money over time. I also appreciate the convenience of the 16-pack — it’s great to always have spares ready to go. Overall, these are dependable, high-quality rechargeable batteries at a great price. I’ll definitely continue reordering them and highly recommend them to anyone looking for long-lasting rechargeables.

I give up - no good for my use
I have a wiser home system where every radiator TRV is individually programmable by app. Excellent product, saving many £££'s on heating. They each individually monitor room temperature and if it drops below the setting allocated, open the valve via a small motor. I could go on about the schedules etc.... this is not a Wiser product review. The thing is each of the 12 units takes two AA's. A "Normal" AA lasts about a year before needing to be replaced. However, wanting to ramp up the eco benefit I did a lot of research and finally landed on this Amazon rechargeable. I'm very disappointed that a fully charged set registers only 20%-40% when put in the device and then needs changing in about a month. The hassle of regular change and seeing the red blinking lights around the house is very triggering. Additionally, leaving the house empty in winter for weeks is now an excessive stress. I guess the 1.2v rating is just not good enough for these devices expecting 1.5v. I'm sure these rechargeable batteries are good for other purposes, but not this purpose. As a result, I'm having to buy a large pack of disposables to rectify the matter. Lesson learned, money wasted due to length of time from purchase. Very disappointed.

Good value for money, especially if you have kids!
Considering the price these are very good. Our little boy has a huge collection of battery powered toys and it soon became apparent once he grew out of playing with random household items that batteries would be very expensive, and you need LOTS of them to put in all his cars, trains, dinosaurs (It seems very few toys don't have batteries and relatives don't consider this burden when buying toys!) So, I have been regularly buying packs of these for a couple of years now, I think it is fair to say they aren't "fully" charged when new, but do have enough charge to use right away if you have an impatiend kid waiting to fire up a toy.... ...I just top up the charge as soon as they arrive, and have enough so there are always a few AA / AAA charged and ready to go in the "man draw" at any time. I think they do lose charge whilst sat, but not that quickly. I suspect they more than pay for themselves over time, and even more quickly when you have kids forgetting to turn things off, which when you are buying normal batteries is very annoying to have a premium copper topped battery drained overnight.

Great option for toys
I was going through batteries like water for kids toys. These have been great in both AA and AAA. Very easily charged and good life on them once charged. It has saved me a lot compared to constantly buying batteries.

Outstanding Cellular Performance – Flawless Charge Retention and Extended Overnight Run times
Finding dependable, high-capacity AA rechargeable cells that seamlessly integrate into outdoor accent fixtures without suffering from rapid voltage drop or premature cell degradation can be quite a challenge. Many off-brand NiMH options boast inflated metrics but fail to handle steady, low-current solar charging circuits. This 12-pack from Amazon Basics sets an excellent engineering benchmark for consumer power storage, serving as a top-tier utility asset. These have been working out as a fantastic upgrade for my solar garden lights, keeping them illuminated at full brightness for hours longer than the factory cells ever did. Robust Low-Self-Discharge & Micro-Grid Integration: The core triumph of these 2,400 mAh batteries is their steady energy release matrix. They adapt beautifully to small outdoor solar panels, soaking up a full daytime trickle charge efficiently and discharging evenly from dusk straight through to dawn. The robust internal chemistry resists the typical performance drop seen during cooler night cycles, ensuring the lighting arrays stay sharp and consistent. Premium Valve Seals & High Reusability: Amazon Basics has manufactured these cells with high-quality anti-leak seals and a solid 400-cycle structural lifespan. The pre-charged design means they are ready for immediate deployment right out of the box, and the internal contacts remain pristine with zero terminal oxidation. Packing this much stable capacity into a neat 12-count bundle delivers immense practical value for refreshing a whole row of high-draw lawn accents. Pros: Generous 2,400 mAh capacity significantly extends the runtime of solar garden lights. Highly efficient charge acceptance handles standard solar trickle cycles flawlessly. Solid, leak-resistant construction protects delicate outdoor terminal springs. Pre-charged NiMH formulation works beautifully straight from the packaging. Cons: Because these are specialized high-capacity cells built to maximize total overnight energy storage, they have a slightly larger physical diameter than standard single-use alkaline cells—meaning they fit snugly and securely into tight waterproof battery bays! Verdict: A premier rechargeable power solution that brings excellent depth of storage and long-term durability to your yard accessories. For anyone looking to maximize the brightness and duration of their outdoor lighting, these high-capacity cells stand out as an exceptional upgrade.
