It uses an Asmedia 1351 chip, who seem to be making a name for themselves as a very good usb to sata connecting chipmaker. If you have ssd's that need data pulling off, you can't go wrong with this! P. S. I only used a USB 3 socket on my computer, as I didn't have a 3.1 available, but still got great results!
