What's the difference between the p117 (black) & p118 (green) charger? bought the new lithium batteries & realized they don't charge on old charger

Both the P117 and the P118 are dual chemistry chargers and charge both li-on and ni-cad batteries. The P117 is rated at 1/2 hour for charging a P102 and the P118 is rated at 1 hour charge time. The P118 comes in most of the new Lithium Ion kits. All current model battery chargers are Dual Chemistry. We only sell Dual chemistry chargers.

Is this a charger and battery sold together?

This is just the P117 fast charger. The P128 kit comes with the P117 chareger and one P102 battery. Review your needs because you can get also the P117 (or the slow and cheaper P118 charger), and the P108 4.0 battery (the 2 pack kit is the P122) or a P107 battery (the 2 pack kit is the P109) or the P102 battery (there is a also a bulk packed kit of the P118 and 2 P102). Can you store your Lithium Ion batteries on the charger to maintain a full charge for short, and long periods of time?

I do and it seems to work fine. Sometimes I may not use the batteries for six months at a time and leave them on the charager. The charger will shut itself off to keep from overcharging.Lithium batteries, though, will hold their charge longer, even off the charger than the older nicad batteries.

Will this charge a ryobi hand saw?

Hi Janet, I have a Ryobi 18v hand saw which uses the black body with yellow post and trim, 18 volt "One+" rechargeable batteries, Model P100.  I have three of this type of battery, and two of them were at the point where my old Ryobi 18v charger would not keep them charged.  This charger was the one included when I originally purchased these tools.I was contemplating the purchase of the Ryobi Lithium batteries, but thought I'd try this P117 charger first.Since I have purchased the P117 Dual-chemistry Lithium Ion charger, it has magically "revitalized" my old P100 batteries and now all three of them work great!  This was a huge savings versus the purchase of new batteries.  Plus, if I end up upgrading my tools to a set which includes Lithium Ion batteries, I'll already have the charger! I do have a Ryobi 18v hand saw, and it works great using my old P100 batteries after charging with this charger.
