Unfortunately there was a casting issue on the saw so it had to be returned, this was sorted easily and I was refunded quickly, thank you Evolution for great customer service. As I needed another quickly I picked the same saw up from our local B&Q - at a great sale price (and it was checked over prior to purchase). The saw performance is excellent, accuracy extremely good and the saw blade included not bad either, though I also purchased a 40t saw blade for the finer cuts. 3 year g'tee included. But for the initial inconvenience it would have got 5 stars. Good, compact mitre saw for a DIY/hobbyist.

I am 70 year old female with health related muscle weakness but still want/need to do some of my own more manageable DIY projects in the house/garden. I definitely cannot use any hand held saws as there is not enough muscle strength. Anyway this Compound Mitre Saw is fantastic for giving me the ability to cut stuff on my own...and yesterday I was able to complete a small deck board project that I could not even attempt before...complete with a 30 degree mitre joint...there were whoops of delight from me with the first couple of practice cuts!...I then composed myself and finished the actual project within minutes!...I should have bought one years ago! I did use it flat on the stone patio outside with no issues whatsoever...And it is still easy to carry for me. Due to its compact size it takes up very little room and fits into an old kitchen base cabinet with no problem and looks great. I think it produces some pretty accurate cuts especially the mitres which I have never done before. All in all an excellent piece of kit and higly recommend.

I bought this compound mitre saw as i needed to chop up some wood to make framework for my new shed and workstation. It's a brilliant compound saw, straight out of the box i had it on the workbench clamped down and a minute later once i figured out how to release the safety lock i was away cutting wood. If you're like me a complete amateur who needs power tools but can't justify spending hundreds on a single tool you'll use a few times a year this is a great option, just please make sure you're taking into account the size of the cuts you'll need to make as this compound doesnt have work horses and you can't make the biggest cuts on it. I can't speak for the blades ability to cut through alloys and retain its cutting edge, i was using it purely for wood and after 4 hours of cutting construction grade timber the blade is still as razor sharp as it was out of the box. The blade cuts very accurately provided you're clamping the workpiece down. For £65, i'm very happy as i can't be bothered wasting 3 days cutting wood with a saw when this bad boy chops up decking like a hot knife through butter. Obviously this compound mitre is lacking features like a dedicated table (sold seperately for the same price as the saw mind you), work horses to stabilise long workpieces, and the workpiece clamp is not super heavy duty but that's why it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Fit for purpose, works like a charm, very nice design making it lightweight and portable, i'm as happy as a pig in mud.

A very handy tool to have When you cannot set-up a full size sliding cross cut saw. It is compact in size but has no problem cutting through any wood or light metal framework etc. It has replaced my handsaw for cutting 4"x2" timber and similar sized wood. It cuts wood with nails in it thanks to the blade Evolution puts in all their saws, though I would use a purpose made metal cutting saw for doing this on a regular basis. It is easy to carry in the car, due to it's small size and light enough to move with one hand. I have basically given up using a hand saw, jigsaw or circular saw for cutting timber to the correct length since getting this saw, plus the cuts are accurate for 90 degrees every time, Something that is almost impossible with a hand saw. It also fits on a mobile workbench easily enough, so no dedicated stand is needed, unlike my full size sliding mitre saw. It's the sort of tool that once you use it for a few jobs, you cannot imagine going without it. The only thing I would have liked is if it was fitted with a laser for lining up cuts too a pencil mark, but measuring with a tape or putting the blade down onto the marked wood before cutting is easy enough. I've been 'spoilt' by the laser on my full size sliding saw so lining up the cuts with this saw needs a bit of 'old school' measuring. Other than the lack of a laser line, I cannot find anything bad about this saw in use, but it does cost a lot less than a full size machine so fair enough. One other thing though, you do need to check for how square the blade is cutting and adjust it accordingly if needed, using the small screws provided on the machine. An incredibly handy tool to have and I highly recommend it. If you need to cut T&G flooring boards, you will need to buy the sliding mitre version of this saw, as the width of the cut isn't big enough for this width of material without the sliding feature. So plan what jobs you may do in the future and maybe go for that version instead. Update: Still a very good tool after 3 years, but recently had to set up a friends recently bought version aswell, as the blade was not square too the wood. Only took a few minutes to do, but surely it wouldn't take much to make a jig at the factory to set things up before shipping? It isn't rocket science is it.

Absolute BARGAIN!! Worth every penny. Very well made, sturdy, it knows it is doing a good job, it can feel it, I'm certain. See some of the off cuts, right down to around 1/32", outstanding machine!
