The first batch was probably brass, but thinner. They were about 2.2mm thick. The second batch which was supposed to identical was not. They were about 2.8mm thick and they are brass plated. When you engrave a few hundreds of an inch down they are zink. They look terrible. You cannot use these for any serious engraving work. I bought 40 coins and I’m sending 20 of them back. Update: In the end I kept all 40 coins. When I began using the second box of blanks you can see they were of a different alloy. They were a brass alloy and not solid brass. You can see the difference in my photo. While once box might be useable for some applications neither are ideal. I ordered a similar, but slightly more expensive, set of 40 blanks from ComMarker.
