Place your strip on the wooden form and heat it by moving the plank bender over it several times. Set includes soldering iron handle with round metal head, plus a wood pattern with two different curves. *Note: Use of this tool outside of the US will require applicable Voltage / Plug conversion adapters for your area / location. What is its wattage? I was given an electric plank bender for Christmas but it a 220v device.** A: Ours is a 110 Volt based on a soldering iron with a special machined metal head. Be very careful of a 220Volt device. It most likely will not work in the U.S. with 110 Volt and plugging into a 220 volt outlet for appliances is dangerous. Your device was made in Europe for use there with 220 volt and has a special plug which offers greater security. I don't believe that you'll find an outlet here suitable for that plug. **Q: Where is this made?** A: great item. used it to bend planks on a boat model. **Q: Has this unit been tested by the AU?** A: I assume that AU is the Australian equivalent of the USA's UL (underwriters laboratory) that is used for testing and approval of electrical devices. The answer is, NO. If Australian electrical outlets are 110 volt 50-60 cycles there is no reason why you cannot use our electric plank bender without concern. We have sold many thousands of this device in the USA over the past 10 years without a single complaint or incident. **Q: Anyone know what temperature this heats to?** A: Sorry we don't have an answer. However, basically this is a soldering iron that is fitted with a machined aluminum head designed to bend wet planks in a wooden cradle. The temperature is the same as a soldering iron, meaning it will melt soft metals and if left too long on wood strips will create burn marks.
