The magnetic flap closure is pretty weak and easily flips open. The top cover is not magnetic at all so the only closure is the small flap and I think this may activate the sleep/wakeup feature. If you move it at all, it wakes it up, and sleep mode is hit or miss, the magnets just aren't very strong.
