I have a sony handy cam and want to play back videos on my memory card on my tvs usb port is this the device you use to do this??

You may not be able to install the drivers for this device on your TV. My laptop can be "shared" to my SmartTV, so I connect this device to my laptop, pull up the video, and then view it on my SmartTV. There is no one "pat" answer to this question. It just depends on what applications are installed on your laptop as well as what applications are available for your TV.
