Ultimate Visual Dictionary

I love visual dictionaries and encyclopedias and this is my new one of many in my library. I love to learn new things but like most people I do not always have the time to go in depth on a subject. I like these books because I can learn new things without the time commitment. Also, this book helps me not to waste time because I can do base research in this book and if I want to continue learning about the subject then I can do so elsewhere. This book would also make an excellent coffee table book or book to take on a road trip. It should be noted that this book is not the usual size of a coffee table book (it is smaller than a 8x11 in). This is the kind of book where you will pick it up from time to time and get lost in it. This book is full of colorful pictures and diagrams and is straight to the point information at your fingertips.

I gave this to my two 6 year old granddaughters and they both loved it, as did one of the Dads who became engrossed and could hardly be persuaded to part with it.

It's good, although difficult to read due to font and overall book size (SMALL!). I do appreciate all the visuals.

I bought this "pictionary" to help a relative learn the language. It is very helpful as it associates the words with pictures thereby enabling one to learn in the same way we learned when we were tots. In fact, I feel this dictionary is very enjoyable and I myself have looked through its pages. I remember when I had to read a dictionary and there were only words explained by other words. Then, I had to look up what the other words meant. Boring. All in all, a very enjoyable book.

Great pictures and diagrams

DK books are always a pleasure to look at & read & just to handle -- you want to stroke the pictures. Full of useful detail (yes, I know, everything's on line now -- this is more fun to browse through).

I'm using this book as a reference for my fiction writing, to find more precise terms that cannot be found easily in a dictionary or encyclopedia. The detail, colorful drawings, and manageable size makes it a handy desk guide. Though you won't find everything you'll ever need in this beautifully illustrated book, it will likely lead you to discover some ideas you've never considered. I think for the price, which is very reasonable, it's worth the tradeoff.
