This time we meet one of Grier's half-sisters, Cleo. Their father has just collected her from her very full home and brought her to live with him and hopefully find a titled husband. Cleo has no interest in love or passion. She just wants a man whom she can live comfortably with and provide for her many siblings. Which is why she's been courting an 80 year old earl. At least until Logan McKinney comes to Town to bag himself an heiress.I liked Lessons from a Scandalous Bride. I found the set up to be unique, even if it didn't lend itself to much action or conflict. Cleo doesn't want to end up like her mother who is pregnant every 9 months and keeps having to bury children and babies. She figures the best way is to avoid young men, as to not fall into temptation. It's easier said than done when Logan makes his intentions toward her known. Obviously things have to happen to cause Cleo to see how wrong she was to try to avoid love and lust, and those things are passionate kisses. Nothing terribly scandalous, sadly.Lessons from a Scandalous Bride was good, but left me underwhelmed, especially since the first book left me smiling like mad. There really was no relationship conflict other than Cleo not wanting to have sex with her husband. The matter with her evil stepfather could have been interesting and emotional, but it fell into the background and was over almost before it could begin. I did really love the beginning when Cleo was deadset on marrying a man older than her grandfather, but once she started her affair with Logan it kind of started to fizzle out. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Delightful Story! *by L***B on Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2012* Cleo Hadley, the illegitimate daughter of one of London's richest and most unsavory characters, has agreed to marry a man with a title and fulfill her father's dream. He'd never expected to meet a woman as exciting as Cleo. Women have always thrown themselves at him, and yet Cleo prefers the company of a decrepit old man to his. When he tempts her with a kiss, her passion is awakened but she's still determined to marry the earl.The last thing Cleo wants is a handsome, virile young husband--a lesson she learned from her mother's tragic life--so why can't she resist Logan's kiss or his touch? And if she doesn't marry the earl quickly, her stepfather will surely make good on his terrible threats.I'll admit there were times in the story I thought I knew where these two were headed, only for Ms. Jordon to take them in an expected direction. Cleo has very logical reasons for wanting a husband in name only, reasons she can't share with anyone, much less Logan. Meanwhile, Logan knows what he wants and for the first time in his life must treat a woman as his equal if he's to have any chance of winning her.Once again Ms. Jordan has created a worthy hero and heroine who grow and open up in order to earn their happily-ever-after. I love that Logan is not a rake, a scoundrel, or wild young rogue of the ton, but an honorable man doing his duty. That he wants to care for the woman he marries only makes him better. Cleo is a loving daughter and sister whose sense of responsibility often misguides her, but I cheered her on as she found her way to happiness with her dashing Scot.
