Insta360 has made some incredible cameras in their short history but the Insta360 X3 has to be one of the best. They have taken some of what their higher end 1" 360 camera had (which I also own) and put it in a body like the previous X models to make a supercharged action 360 camera. There is something nothing else even close to this for its capabilities, features, and quality. Having the nice big screen is huge for action since you can easily change what you need to while on the go while also seeing what the camera sees, without having to get super close and squint like with some other competitor non-360 cameras. The footage and images this thing puts out are just fantastic and it is super durable as well. I will grab this for some outings before I will touch the 1" 360 camera, thanks to the X3's durability and waterproofing. Plus, the Insta360 app has been amazing, kind of like giving you a studio in your pocket for right after you captured your awesome footage. The Insta360 X3 has a new 1/2 sensor which gives better low light performance and greater detail, something that even the new GoPro HERO 11 does not offer. The higher megapixel count gives greatly detailed photographs as well, in addition to giving you extra space to crop in. Anyway, I currently own 4 Insta360 cameras as well as other action cameras and I can tell you - the Insta360 X3 is the one to have. If you don't want 360 footage all the time, the new X3 you can also shoot single-lens mode to capture just one direction, great for if you don't want to reframe the 360 footage and you just want to capture one direction. For all your action or any kind of on-the-go photo/video needs, the Insta360 X3 will check every box and, when combined with the Insta360 app, you will have a go-anywhere studio that gives you views, angles, and images that you cannot get with any other camera. Give it a try! I will update this more after I have used it for some other activities as well.

If you are on the fence about this camera, you should just do it. After having and still owning drones for video, a handful of gopro versions, digital sLR’s I can honestly say this is the best camera for content I have ever owned and it cost me a little over $400 . :) The good: amazing picture quality, no missing the shot if the camera is on and you saw it you have it. Great stabilization, ok battery time about 30-40 minutes (don’t believe anyone that says hours) it’s a 360 cam and a action cam in one. The software is really easy The bad : let me first say I love it.. the lens are easy to damage setting the camera down the lense glass is always in contact with something, the file size is huge 6GB for a 12 minute video, you can’t move this through wifi it takes forever and fails a lot, uploads off the SIM card arent for the inexperienced. Output file creation takes a long time, uploads to YouTube take a long time. Tech support is not great. Did I mention I love this camera? :)

There are some cons and pros to this camera and most can be addressed by expectation management. Pros: -Related well priced comparing to other high end cameras of its kind -Compact and easy to carry It works and shots 360 like breeze -Battery lasts relatively ling time. You can use single battery all day if you turn camera off when you are not shooting. -Native desktop software works well with Mac OS which is needed to render (which is a con also) and upload your videos into YouTube or Meta Browser. -Touchscreen on relatively small LCD is well engineered. Functions well. Cons: -Although 360 video Resolution is advertised as 5K it is actually less than 480p because entire 4 or 5K is dispersed into 360. Final product is as sharp as a TV from 1970s if you are lucky. But this is the nature of the beast comes with price and size. If you need really good 360 video Meta-3 camera from a UK manufacturer may be the beat option but comes with higher price. -It is not so water proof as advertised. I know other users who had bad experience. So don’t swim with this. -360 video you shot is not ready to be uploaded to YouTube for 360 view. All 360 videos must be rendered and exported thru desktop app and then uploaded to your 360 view to be viewed. That is time consuming. -Mobile 360 app doesn’t render for you to directly upload to YouTube. It is limited to few editing capabilities. You must use desktop app for Windows or Mac OS. This is a super inconvenience if you are traveling and don’t want to carry your laptop with you. Conclusion: -Overall great solution to watch your own travel videos on YouTube via Oculus which was the main reason I got this. If you don’t own a 360 headset then this camera is waste for you. - this is an awesome camera for starters. It will allow you to decide whether 360 is for you or not. Price point enables this. - go for it and get it. Have fun with it. It is an attention gather. -don’t forget to get an INVISIBLE STICK, it is a must have accessory. -no need screen or lens protectors. Best is to get the OEM rubber lens cover. Hope my review helps. The camera works great. The app for editing the videos is a bit difficult to learn but works great once you learn it. Tons of options for recording and editing, it would be great if they can make a "dummy mode" for users who aren't into all the customized settings. But I understand this is not an iphone camera. It has much more capability and therefore more complexity. The best feature in the app is the mode that allows you to select a specific person from a 360 video, and then extract a video that is focused on that person - regardless of whether they are in front or behind or beside the camera.

This is an excellent camera for those who want to get started in 360 content. The Insta360 X3 is a solid choice if you're looking for a camera that delivers good quality at a reasonable price. The device has a 1/2" sensor and records in 5.7K, which makes it great for capturing high-quality footage. It even has an 8K timelapse mode for even higher quality content. It also comes with Me Mode, which removes the keyframing and tracking steps that were needed in the past if you wanted to focus on your self. This camera is compatible with both Android and iOS devices, making it easy to use with almost any phone or tablet. Using the Insta360 app you can pick from a wide array of templates, trick shots, or edit your own footage. The community is also very nice and supportive. The Insta360 X3 also has a larger display than previous models which make it easier to see what I'm filming without having to take out my phone or look at it through the small porthole viewfinder like the X2. The battery life has been updated as well. It's not a huge difference but I did notice I was able to record for an extra 5-10 minutes which is great considering the display size has increased substantially. If you're in the market for a well rounded fun 360 camera the X3 is a solid choice. PS: the Giraffe picture was taken on the X3 and the bicycle video was recorded using Me Mode.

Insta360 continues to be intrusive. I should not have to download an app and allow my data to be accessed. Why do you need my contacts. ... marketing data grab. Setup is still buggy and my camera froze. There's a lot of do this do that try again n again. 🤨 The app is not easy to use. It's still basic and requires a lot of time. If I shoot 360 then it should be able to download as 360 so then I can view it like I shot it and upload it without wasting time. It's not that simple. Stop making us have to "activate" in order to use a camera. I had the same issues with the One R. It's an expensive paperweight. As for the camera it's nicely constructed. The form factor is a nice break from the rectangular box. Alla back in the day form factor of mini camcorder recorders. The picture quality is good but not great. It is quite soft. Audio is good. The touchscreen is nice and works well. I like it and will be using it single lens quite a lot. Image stabilization is great. And it's waterproof. It's a good camera 🤳 There is no auto rotate in single lens. Can't mount it upside-down. The camera gets quite warm. I imagine in summer it's hot. Battery life is ok could be better. 1hr or so. There is no lens cover or protection included. A pouch thing is included. May look for a cage or case but they could have included a simple lens cover like they did with the One R but I guess they decided on a pouch. I like the camera but don't like the forced use of their app. It's so intrusive. I had to turn off a lot of my security just to activate this. Therefore it gets 1 star and at $500 it should be simpler and faster to do a 360 video. Good camera bad app. 🫤 Another issue is they require a signature. If you're going to do that you need to give us working folks an option to electronically sign off. I specifically ordered this to arrive on a weekend so I would be home. It did not arrive on time and I had to take a day off on short notice just so I could sign off because it was delayed. How am I suppose to buy more Insta360 products if I don't make money .... 🫡
