Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) is a tricky but harmless fast-talker. But he knows how to have fun, which is exactly what he sets out to do when he feigns illness and talks his parents into letting him stay home from school. The perpetually lucky Ferris enlists his hypochondriac best friend, Cameron Frye (Alan Ruck), into springing his girlfriend, Sloane Peterson (Mia Sara), from class, and the three embark on a raucous downtown Chicago adventure. From Wrigley Field to the Art Institute of Chicago to a Polish pride parade, Ferris and his friends make the most of their day off. But Ferris, Sloane, and Cameron might not get away with playing hooky. Ferris's sister, Jeanie (Jennifer Grey), is determined to prove that Ferris is faking sick and make him pay for it, and the bumbling school dean, Ed Rooney (Jeffrey Jones), is sure that Ferris is pulling a fast one. Another classic from writer-director John Hughes (SIXTEEN CANDLES, THE BREAKFAST CLUB), this film features a star turn from Broderick as the charismatic Ferris. Watch for Charlie Sheen as the juvenile delinquent in the police station and comedian Louie Anderson in a brief appearance as a flower deliveryman. Review: Best movie ever - Best movie ever. Great DVD as just one of my favorites top 25. I’d say I have watched it quite a few times since that first bought it you will continue throughout unless it gets messed up in our order. Another one I know I can stream it now anytime I want you on my smart TV.

Ferris Bueller still rocks!
First of all let me make film itself, I'm glad to say, does not and is just as good as I remembered. I wondered how well this film would hold up since I had not seen it since the 80's and as you know some films seem great in their day but do not hold up years later, much less decades. Even though it is very much a time capsule of the optimistic mid-eighties, it's also a very well made comedy whose main elements are pretty much universal: spirited boy knows life needs to be simply enjoyed sometimes and takes a day off from school to prove i to himself and his best friends. I consider Ferris Bueller to be a fantasy and so I don't hold it to the standards of absolute reality that some who don't like it do. Sure, his mom after coming home to check on him would not just look in the doorway. And sure, no one would be allowed to jump on a parade float nor would a German parade float happen to have a copy of the Beatles' Twist and Shout on hand. But it made one of the most memorable scenes of 80's cinema, and that's more valuable than cold reality. Ferris's day would probably take two days to actually do, what with the Cubs game, Sears Tower, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the fancy restaurant and the parade. The Cubs game alone would have probably taken a whole afternoon, but who cares? It's all great fun. It's also well-acted by everyone involved from Cameron Frye's neurotic and repressed Cameron to Jeffrey Jones' comic villain role as Principal Rooney. Even Ben Stein scores memorability in his brief role of the economics teacher. Techincal aspects like script, camera work and editing are all of a high standard. The film moves along briskly for its almost two hour time. You're still here? The review is over! Go watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off! Go!

Pure Fun
A very entertaining movie that doesn't allow one to get bored. If you live in the Chicago area, this movie is a must to see. I particularly enjoyed the visit to the Art Institute, which is my favorite museum of all I have visited. Lovingly portrayed by the director, John Hughes, who obviously was as much enamored of the museum as I am. There are echoes of earlier Hughes films (The Blues Brothers) in the musical numbers The Polish Pride Parade sequence is hilarious. The one sobering incident in the film is the wanton destruction of a Ferrari 250 GT which any car buff will tell you is the HolyGrail of sports cars. I was reasonably sure that Hughes would never destroy such an iconic automobile but I had to resort to surfing the Net to be sure. Yes, it was a mock-up. Highly recommended film for when you need some light-hearted fun in your life. By the way, Jeffrey Jones does a marvelous job as the high-school principal who seeks to exact vengeance on Ferris for all times he has been made a fool of by the crafty student.

Ferris Bueller's great feats
This movie was the one of the greatest movies that ever existed. It's Hero Ferris Bueller is a Magnanimous, selfless Maverick who would not hesitate to help his friends in the most dire circumstances. He taught all of his friends a lesson. In the adventure, he taught his Girlfriend romance and he taught his grungy, anti heroic friend Camron how not to be a stick in the mud (sort of). Ferris helps his friends throughout the film in the wackiest ways and ultimately taught his friends lessons while doing so. Ferris Is one of the greatest heroes of all time and he joins the ranks of Indiana jones, Atticus Finch, Yoda, and the Batman . Ferris Bueller also knows how to make people happy and can even make friends with the Hardened, antisocial Cameron. Ferris Bueller seems like an all around good person making people happy and teaching them life lessons while doing so. Ferris is also pure good and is so selfless that he actually wants to take the blame when Camron destroys his father's car in a fit of rage. Luckily some of Ferris's magnanimous nature rubbed of on Camron so he took the blame himself. I believe that we can all be like generous Ferris and that doing so would make the world a much better place.

It's been a good many years since I first saw this film, I liked it then and I enjoyed it just as much this time around. The picture quality of the main feature is good, but as with many extras on older films they are of lower resolution/quality. Still, they do add something to the interest value of the disc.
