Review: This book is excellent to learn basic English grammar, whether you are native speaker or not there's so much to learn. As a TESOL major I strongly recommend this book to enhance your understanding on the subject , you can self teach yourself if you have the with motivation. this book was used in a online college course I took. Review: As at least one other reviewer has pointed out, this book is promoted as a self-study guide, which is misleading. There are exercises at the end of each section designed to enable the reader to test their own understanding, which in theory is a great thing. Although the answers for the first group of questions are printed in the book at the end of each unit, the answers for the ‘More Practice’ questions are described as being ‘available on the website’ (presumably to save space in the book). References to these answers being available on the website are repeated throughout the book - in the back cover blurb, the ‘How to use this book’ section, and again with each indivdual set of practice questions. In fact they are not available. When I contacted the publisher to ask why, the patronising reply from their representative claimed that, “Instructor (I presume they mean teacher) resources are locked, since students would have access to all answers otherwise”...Apparently I might be trying to cheat - at best I was asking for something I wasn’t entitled to. I can find absolutely no reference to these answers being only accessible to 'instructors' anywhere in the book. Surely the whole point of buying a self-study guide is that you have access to the answers to the exercises in order to test your progress? The claim on the cover of the book is a misrepresentation, and the publisher's response was obstructive and unhelpful.

The book itself is ok but buyer beware! For some stupid reason the publisher refuses to give out the answer key to the exercises even to students in a teaching program. Apparently some teachers utilize this book as exams for their students and they’re afraid that students will get their hands on them? My guess is that this is highly unlikely and improbable. Almost laughable really. I don’t think the answer key for this book merits this level of security. The book states that answers to the More Practice section are on their web site. They are not. They refused to send them even after sending proof of enrollment in a teaching program. Really annoying to get half way thru the book and not be able to get the answer key. It’s like a newspaper refusing to publish the solution to yesterday’s crossword puzzle! I bought this book to do a complete review on my own before I become a teacher. It’s almost like they don’t want you to learn grammar from this book???

Had to get for class. Never used it. It's pointless. Very little explanation of terms and concepts paired with a few practice questions. I got an A in the class by googling instead.
