Great Value. Works perfectly.
Works great. I knew the used Mercedes from Carmax was partially painted. This gave the same consistant readings repeatedly. RePainted area read from 0.24 to 0.30mm , whereas non-repaintet was approx. 0.16mm. Traded the car in on another used Carmax car, but not before going over it with this paint depth reader. Reads between 0.14 and 0.16 mm on new car throughout. Don,t spend any more money than you have to.

A little clunky, but does what it's supposed to do.
While shopping for a used car this device came in very handy to help uncover undisclosed damage by unscrupulous sellers and dealers. From what I can tell it's accurate within +3 millimeters. Take that into consideration when using.

Works great, paint is surprisingly thin.
Wanted to check my car paint thickness, and indeed it is insanely thin. No thinner on my car than most though. And checking the thickness of PPF is kinda handy.

Great value for the money
This thing works perfectly to sync it or calibrated it's very easy just press the power button and the top right hand side one. The directions are terrible all you do is you first do that metal piece without anything and then add the films to it and it'll calibrate itself

Not for a car that has been repainted
Had to return. I purchased a used car that sometime in its life had been repainted. I wanted to measure the clear coat to know if it would be safe to do some correction work on. This gauge will not accurately measure clear coat on a vehicle that has been repainted. Nothing wrong with the gauge as far as I know it just wasn't what I needed.

Terribly inaccurate
Not even close to matching a professional instrument. Had some body work done on my car and while it showed the paint as being thicker than the rest of the car, it was absurdly inaccurate. Calibrated numerous times, zero calibrated numerous times. Body shop showed me their measurements of unrepaired areas and repaired areas and they were what you'd expect (5.8 mils in factory paint 11.2 in repainted) while this gauge showed 17 mils in factory paint, 40 in the repainted areas.

Decent for the price.
Hit and miss on if your going to get a reading but it does give you one if you are persistent.
