'04 TJ - Top notch upgrade
After finally purchasing and installing, I wish I had pulled the trigger much sooner. It's high quality and does it's job perfectly. Installation was easy and took roughly an hour, including pulling the drive shaft loose and removing the transmission skid plate. I was having a lot of trouble shifting my t-case. I was afraid to go offroad in my Jeep because I hit a dip at moderate speed one time and it shifted itself into neutral, and got stuck that way. I didn't have my tools with me to pull it apart and hand shift it on the case so I ended up calling a tow truck. Now shifting is incredibly easy, a night and day improvement over the stock pile of crap linkage! I highly recommend this product.

Easy enough to install, smooth results.
While it did not come with instructions, you can find them online and plenty of YouTube videos to learn from. The Jeep we bought had been lifted which stock linkage is not designed to handle and broke first time we tried it. This cable shifter is the smooth fix. I am no pro and got it in with the biggest frustration being getting the old parts off. The trick in shifting is to feel the click as I have not had time to find the adjustment needed to correct the length of the shifter run space versus the actual shift point which initially created a scary grinding WTF moment second time out after install. You can do it. Make sure you support your transmission while removing parts.

Great Product, No Instructions
No instructions with it, but after a tiny bit to looking where it goes and online pictures I figured it out. Works great. Replaced my factory setup that had my 4wd pop out of place. Some photos have it already put together, but mine wasn't put together.

Great upgrade!
Great upgrade from the stock shift linkage. Shifting into 4WD is smooth with very good tactile feedback that you're definitely engaged in each mode. The old linkage I removed had semi-seized bushings/joints that was making it a fight 1 out of 4 times I was trying to shift into 4WD and back. Install was straightforward. Mine didn't have instructions in the box but was able to e-mail them for a copy. You can follow the install instructions from the Novak cable and it's basically the same, this one does NOT have rubber bushings for the bracket on the tub and it's not supposed to. There's also good YouTube videos (BleepinJeep has a very clear install) that show how everything goes together. You don't "have" to drop your skid plate to do this install but it makes it much easier. You can also detach your driveshaft to give yourself more space if you want. I dropped the plate but left the driveshaft in. As far as adjustments go, I left the nuts in the middle of each attachment point and haven't had to adjust it. I'm still at stock height but I can tell this is going to work great no matter what I may lift it to since it's a cable and not a geometric linkage/joints.

Better than stock
I dont know why jeeps don't come with this from the factory. Shifting into 4WD is so much more precise and smooth. I have a suspension lift and a transfer case drop on my jeep and the stock linkages were still installed, but because of the lift, the geometry of the linkages was all out of wack. That combined with the number of springs and rubber grommets caused the whole thing to just twist and bend while trying to shift. I could never get it to go into 4 low or to stay in 4 low. And it was always clunky. All that is fixed. Shifts like butter now and it stays in 4 low. No problem. The install was easy enough. The hardest part was removing the old linkage. Like others have stated, there were no instructions. You'll need to watch other videos on how to install similar cable shifters. They all install about the same way. It's not hard to figure out. Also, they don't show this but the large nuts that hold the cable in place on the brackets are around 20 - 21 mm. It's impossible to get a wrench that size into a space that small. You'll save yourself some aggravation by finding a short handled crescent wrench or shorty wrench to tighten those nuts.

Quality
This is my third purchase for Jeep TJ. Simple to install, good design, and well made. As everyone knows, or should know, the Jeep TJ OEM linkage is poorly designed making for difficult shifts when trying to move into Low, Neutral,or High 4X4. These cable shifters make shifting into 4X4 options smooth / easy.

Fantastic shifter cable
Ordered for a 2004 jeep TJ with a transfer case drop and it worked perfectly. Took around 4 hours to install without dropping the skid plate and took little adjusting to install. Plenty of YouTube videos demonstrating installation and adjustment as well. All said and done the Jeep now shifts solidly through all 4wd options and I would definitely buy another one for my other Jeep.

PITA install, worth the effort though.
VERY painful install, mentally prepare for hell on a rusty TJ, but overall worth it. I took off the 4wd handle from the top to access the top bolt - highly recommend you do this. I didnt have to remove the skid plate because of this. My 4wd lever was seized solid so I had to free it up on the bench - careful not to bend your handle shaft - it will have you scratching your head later why its not working. I had to bend mine back to factory for it to work out. Mine still doesnt tilt left and right so I just shaved down the notch on the gate a little. Its fine.
