The Suicide Motor Club [Buehlman, Christopher] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Suicide Motor Club Review: Seriously, you won't put it down. - I lost myself in this story. Unlike the usual vampire tales out there, this book takes a detour on the truly twisted route, introducing characters that I loved...even the ones I hated because of their behavior. Christopher Buehlman's writing is so descriptive and interesting that I never had a "skim this page" moment, but way more "lemme go back and read that part again because it was just so dang GOOD." All his books are compelling and engrossing, but this one actually might edge out "Between Two Fires" as my reread over and over favorite. Review: Not your typical vampire book - I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and had a fast paced, interesting storyline. I wanted to read a vampire book that depicted vampires as cold blooded monsters. This book does that and it does not portray the vampires as romantic or sexy creatures like most of the books out there now. It is a mix of horror, action, suspense and drama and I was hooked by the first chapter. It doesn't offer a lot of gore or torture but it does have the right amount of horror to make it a horror book. I appreciated the writers creative attributes and characteristics of the vampires in his book, he made the story a lot more interesting because there wasn't the usual vampire traits you would expect to see in this book. If your looking for a unique and different way to read about a vampire then this book will satisfy you.

Well executed revenge story
โWe believe we have the names and living identities of three of those traveling in what weโll refer to as THE SU!CIDE MOTOR CLUB, a group of murderers who roam the country abducting women and children, provoking lethal automobile accidents and literally feeding on the blood of their victims. These killers have already died a bodily death and risen from this death to live again unnaturally.โ -Wicklow If that quote alone doesnโt make you want to jump into this book then nothing else I can say will help you. You might think that this is a foot-to-the-floor, no brakes allowed thrill ride, (and some parts of it are) but this is a well thought out, you-messed-with-the-wrong-woman, well executed waltz of death with an ending that is just *chefโs kiss* Blood and death throughout with characters that just walk off the page at you. Christopher Buehlman has once again proven how versatile he is.

Another excellent title from one of my favorite authors right now
I am a huge fan of Christopher Buehlman's work. I've read every book he has written thus far. If you read The Lesser Dead, you may recognize a character or two as this novel is written in the same world as The Lesser Dead, but in a different time. This novel is in no way a sequel. It's not even really a prequel, it just happens to have a character in common and a brief mention of others. Where The Lesser Dead is all about a Vampire protagonist's viewpoint of horrors in his world, The Suicide Motor Club has human protagonists and is 100% about the human's experience of horror. Christopher Buehlman, over the years, has proven that he has a real knack for developing interesting characters. He digs into their emotions and gets you invested. Even his villans have layers. And the detail in which he describes a scene leaves you no doubt as to exactly what he wants you to see. In fact, The Suicide Motor Club is written and organized very much like a movie or a TV series. This novel could easily be adapted for the screen. Make no mistake. These vampires are not fluffy or romantic. The villainโ is a Mean Bastard! And his gang is as heartless as a gang of vampires should be. I have been on record as stating that Those Across the River, Buehlman's 1st novel, was my favorite of his writings thus far. I am correcting myself with this release. The Suicide Motor Club is not my favorite. I can't wait to get my 1st edition hardcover signed! Keep your eyes on Christopher Buehlman, folks, and read everything he puts out. He is relatively undiscovered by the masses right now, but that is soon to change.

Highly enjoyable yet brutal vampire story.
This book does a great job of presenting the kind of vampire story those who grew up in the 80s watching the Lost Boys and Near Dark know and love. The book is brutal, sad, funny and just a good read. I highly recommend it to horror fans out there.

Another striking read!
As usual, Christopher Buehlman awakens your imagination and gets under your skin(in a good way) with his vivid prose, at times flowing, and other times spare. I'm still in awe at the way he creates such amazingly realistic worlds and characters both real and supernatural. This book might be said to take place in the same universe as The Lesser Dead, both concerning the similar depictions of the supernatural. But, as with Between Two Fires and The Necromancer's House, I was completely drawn into the world of these characters to the point where I couldn't stop reading till I found out what happened. I sincerely hope Mr. Buehlman keeps churning out such wonderful stories for us. I'm a definite fan :)

If you were a driver in the US back in the 60's, consider yourself lucky for being here. There were undead things roaming all over the place, hiding in abandoned mines or houses near the highway, stealing the fastest cars and feeding on innocent passers-by. Or maybe you have encountered them but don't remember. If there is a night on Route 66 you remember in a haze, then you've been spared. They let you go. But the thing is that someone noticed. Not all the people are susceptible to being brain-washed by them so when a woman survives a car wreck, she remembers her son being snatched away by them. And despite her attempts to tell herself it was all just a bad dream and trying her career in a cloister to forget her awful past, the destiny chose different path for her. She isn't the only one to know about them. So when a secret club of vampire slayers asks her to come along and avenge her little son, she agrees. I loved the story and its twists. It was terrifying and gruesome. The characters kept slowly ravelling their secrets so that I was constantly saying "aha! wow! what the.." and so on ;-)= I'm happy that the idea of the evil undead is still alive and hasn't disappeared from literature just yet. And even though a charming vampire character appears, the protagonist can see through him and doesn't get swept away.

Christopher Buehlman very quickly became a favourite of mine. Everything he writes is so different and yet always amazing. Have and will continue to preorder everything from this incredible writer.

Extremely well written, taut prose that meant I was glued to this book until I finished it. Now off to buy more by this author.

Fantastic....Near Dark meets Salems Lot in late '60s America, on Route 66. Highly recommended, this guy can write. Not just violence, but well-written good guys and bad guys. And if these creatures ever really existed, it also shows how utterly helpless most everyday people would be when faced with them. Chilling.
