Review: I Performed My Own Independent Efficacy Test - I ordered a roll of this product in 2015 and just applied it this past weekend (March 2017). I followed the instructions included, and it went up well. I got a little fast and loose on one window and didn't realize the film had shifted slightly as I was razor blading off the excess, so I have a gap of a couple millimeters on one side. So be aware of this, which can readily happen if you get things good and sloppy with the soap solution as the directions suggest. I'll see if it curls up/comes loose in time as one reviewer indicated. I'm also going to do an efficacy test for fade prevention. After all what does "up to 99%" really mean? So here's my test: I applied this UV film to part of a south-facing window that receives a lot of sun exposure. I have three identical pieces of both red construction paper and red fabric. I'll tape pieces of the paper and fabric side-by-side to the window in areas that are treated (UV film) and untreated (plain window glass). The third pieces of paper and fabric are similarly taped to a piece of plain glass that I'm placing in the top of a dark closet with no light. I'm entering this day one year from now in my calendar to remind me to evaluate and post results of this experiment at that time. Depending on the results of this experiment, I may order enough film to treat my entire house. UPDATE: Today is Sept. 20, 2017. It's been six months since I placed the paper and fabric samples in my south-facing, full-sun exposure window. This is the first time I've checked on the experiment. I think there are enough results to show that I don't need to have the experiment run a full year. I'm attaching a pic of the results. The red construction paper was totally faded away on both the bare glass and the UV film samples. There was no color pigment left at all on either sample. So this was a "fail" for the UV film on this aspect of the test. But construction paper fades very easily. Moving on to the fabric test, there was visible fading to the fabric swatch placed against bare glass. There was still visible fading to the test swatch placed against glass with UV film applied, but it was less than the swatch against the bare glass. In a continuum between the control swatch and the bare glass swatch, I'd say the UV Film swatch resembled the bare glass swatch more than the control. So what are my conclusions? The UV film is better than no protection at all, but if you are concerned about fading to your fabrics, rugs, wood, etc. and cannot augment this UV film with other means such as blinds, shades, etc., you better go with something else. I'm torn whether to give this product 2 or 3 stars. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt at 3, but be aware of this product has definite limitations.
