Lie to Me: A Novel – A Gripping Domestic Noir About the Deadly Unraveling of a Marriage [Ellison, J.T.] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Lie to Me: A Novel – A Gripping Domestic Noir About the Deadly Unraveling of a Marriage Review: Loved it... - What a delightful read! A fantastic written of- did he - did she - who did it?!?! It was truly a great immersive read. That's all I can say... twist after twist after twist. Review: Gripping, shocking, full of surprises - This book keeps you hooked and keeps you guessing, a real page turner in which you don't know who to believe or sympathize with. It is enjoyable to read, only little complaint I had was the mixing of jargon that fit some characters but not others (for example, locals in Tennessee wouldn't use the term "presser", they'd call it a press conference). But other than a few phrases that seemed out of place for the character they were given to this is well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Definitely recommend for those who like a good mystery.

5 Stars for this fast-paced, by-the-lapels thriller!
Maybe you already follow this best-selling, Emmy-winning author's three on-going series and think you know what to expect here. However, with this new stand-alone Ellison has stepped out and up with a trip into the dark, dank back alley created by the lies we tell, especially to ourselves. Celebrated writers Sutton and Ethan Montclair know they're in trouble even before their A-list life falls apart, but you'll be surprised who's to blame. When Sutton disappears into thin air, what's left of their publically "perfect" story is sucked down into a corrosive swirl of opposing POV's and surgical air strikes of the most shocking information. (If you read with a pen, your margins will be full of 'WTH's?') Ellison takes this story way beyond the 'he said/she said' formula. There is a disturbingly creepy third voice taunting the reader throughout the story, accompanied by the heart-breaking, barely audible hum that echoes the irreparable tragedy of this couple. Ellison provides her signature strong character in the form of ambitious brand newbie detective Holly Graham whose tenacity pulls the right threads to unravel the glossamer facade of the Montclair's life. I hope we'll see her again. Although Nashville provides a perfect moody backdrop for the story, as a delicious lagniappe, a "you-are-there" trip to Paris is included. I'm ready to book a trip today. Honestly, when I began reading this book, I expected to like it because of my past experiences with Ellison's writing. What I didn't know was that I'd be held captive for the next 10 hours! Yes, I read it cover to cover in one sitting. So, be forewarned - don't start this just before bedtime unless you're willing to chance an all-nighter's hangover the next morning. My advanced copy was provided by Mira, but my recommendations for this terrific read are all mine. Enjoy.

Good but not great
Ethan Montclair has woken to find his wife gone. She has left a note, telling him not to look for her, yet has taken none of her personal items with her. From there, we are taken on a ride through the Montclair marriage— the lies, the hurt, the loss. • While we readers are wondering where Sutton is, we are being led through the story by an unknown narrator. This narrator is slowly cluing us into what has happened while we put the pieces together. • I read the book in one day and couldn’t put it down! The flashbacks were not hard to keep up with and in my opinion, they actually made the story better. Also, every time I thought it was over, something else would happen! With that being said there were a couple plot points that were predictable, but there’s not many thrillers that don’t have some sort of predictability. Overall, I was happy with this book and plan on lending it out tomorrow! • But the one thing that drove me nuts was the use of character names. In some chapters she was calling the detective Holly and other Graham and others Officer Graham. It sounds picky, but it was extremely annoying

Kept me reading on into night
This was a fairly long book but I couldn't stop reading it at two sittings. I kind of had the culprit figured out but oh my all the complex details of it all! It actually was an entertaining yet farfetched read!

Sutton and Ethan Montclair are married and a good-looking couple, both writers, who are well-known celebrities in their industry. From the outside, anyone could see and, probably, envy their happiness, wealth and success. Therefore, the disappearance of Sutton stirs the media's attention around the world. As the story progresses, the plot slowly un-peels itself to plenty of shocks and nasty surprises that has any person's head spinning. Before ordering the e-book, reviews have praised and compared this to the highly-acclaimed 'Gone Girl'. That the novel is as good as the latter, that fans will not be disappointed by this at all. Ladies and gentlemen, let me be clear in this review: this novel is BETTER than 'Gone Girl'. I tried to read GG, but all it did was bored me to tears about shapes of a head and skulls and whatnot. This novel was sharp and fast, there was mystery; it was Fast & Furious. This authoress knew her stuff and, boy, did she flaunt her techniques with short chapters, enough to hold my attention and just enough to peak my curiosity to keep wanting more and more. And before I knew it, I had to stop myself reading to catch sleep in the small hours of the morning. I love the style of narration because there are a few perspectives of the story covered from characters- we know of and unknown to us- enough to give the reader a story from all sides. Yet, just enough to tickle our curiosity in asking questions that can be answered after finishing the book. Absolutely loved it.

I loved this book, so intelligent so full of characters. Wonderfully written, many ifs and but so unbelievably true held me close for the weekend.

Kept me on fire! Good story, easy reading. Loved the characters and the development of their connection. Each of them could turn into a main character.

This was a great thriller with twists and turns all the way through. It’s about a couple who appear to live a perfect life, both writers but they have suffered a terrible trauma and things don’t appear to be what they seem. When Ethan’s wife disappears he finds himself as the main suspect as the police try to piece together what has happened. it’s a believable storyline and it has great character development 4 stars for me and one I would recommend if you like twisty thrillers which keep the pages turning.
