Very hot iron that gets the job done.
Nice piece of kit. I use this for melting TPE. It gets very hot so as with any Iron you have to be cautious and have a plan. I keep a large piece of aluminum near by when I'm using this iron so the aluminum acts as a heatsink for the iron if I have to put it down for a few minutes. Allowing the Iron to idle and not dissipate heat will shorten the life of the element. They give you a spare element for that reason, I haven't had to use my spare yet. They also supply a spare tip.

It brings the heat!
I needed more than my soldering irons or soldering guns could supply, heat-wise, to desolder and resolder brushes onto my truck starter, as the copper rings the brushes attach to sink so much heat. This soldering iron does bring the heat. It is big, heavy and hot. It managed to heat the area needed in about 4 seconds to get the brushes desoldered, where TWO soldering guns of smaller wattage, together at the same time, could not heat the area up enough. It probably won't be very often that I need this much heat to solder, but it sure did work well for my situation. Great value for the money. I also like that it comes with a second tip and a second heating coil. Note, it smokes a lot when you first fire it up, there is nothing wrong and the smoke will stop after a little while. It will no longer smoke after that first time. I assume it's burning oil off of the heating coil.

Crude, but effective
I chose the 150w version. The power rating is accurate, and it gets HOT, but the optimization of heat transfer from the heating element into the iron itself is rather abysmal. There's simply an excess gap between the tinned copper copper core (the iron) and the heating element. It takes a while, a couple-few minutes at least, for it to get up to temperature as most of the heat is immediately lost out to the sides before it ever makes it into the core of the unit. The power cord itself is ridiculous short lol. It's less than 3 feet long. Once temperature is reached, it holds enough heat to handle most tasks that a smaller/normal soldering iron can't. Keep in mind that these high powered units are rather heavy and unwieldy and that the power cord is quite short, so you will need some sort of extension in order to make this tool more usable. Besides it's unearingly long warm up times and the initial smoke that was produced, the 150w version does everything that it should. The indicator light is incredibly helpful for knowing if your iron is powered on and the unit comes with a spare iron and spare heating element, which is a nice touch. Not a high end or refined design, but it works well enough in a pinch. = )

Came, Soldered, Conquered
Used this beast to patch my septic tank yes, really, and it melted HDPE like butter on a skillet. Light weight and easy to use. Heats up fast, holds steady, and saved me from a literal 💩 storm. It worked like a charm. Would absolutely buy again, preferably before another plumbing emergency.

U want hot?
Holy smokes, if ur looking for something that gets super scary hot. This is it. The price was a little steep but it was here when I needed it and that makes it worth it. And really, no joke this bad boy will make u be cautious. I am sure it would brand cattle and do large, heavy stained glass. IDK how long it will last, getting that crazy hot just is not good for a tool but who cares. I will buy another when this one goes bad just to have. I wish there was a 300w iron that was much smaller. This one is huge. Positively not for small electronics or someone who has had too much coffee. This is one hot iron.

This is a beast
This is a beast, good for soldering wires directly to the big batteries tabs

Poor design, this soldering iron destroys itself
The iron gets very hot quickly and the insulation of the wires that run inside the iron begin to burn and smoke. Poor design, this soldering iron destroys itself

Smoke is expected. No big deal. Very heavy. Way bigger and better than I had expected.
Smoke is expected. No big deal. Very heavy. It's not for a small job at all and it's as long as my forearm. Way bigger and better than I had expected. It desoldered and resoldered these huge connections on these junk Chinese battery connections where they made huge solder blobs on the main terminals. I tried several other soldering irons and none made a dent. This thing melted it right away. Highly recommended.

Don't buy this. It has no temperature control at all. Mine got so hot within 15 minutes the stainless body was glowing dull red. 700 degrees to hot to solder with. Useless and potentially very dangerous.
