Permits fiber optic cable attachment to "old" TV for bluetooth headphone use
I purchased this Bluetooth Transmitter Receiver to provide connection for my Bluetooth headphones to an old Toshiba HDTV that has no wire audio cable output connector, but which does have a fiber optic cable audio output. I connected the Transmitter Receiver to the TV using the fiber optic cable. I use a USB C to USB A cable, with an inexpensive 120V AC to 5V DC power adapter to power the device. Following the installation and use instructions, my Lenovo Bluetooth headphones pair up with the Bluetooth Transmitter fairly quickly. The display on the device is easy to see, and it helps greatly in the pairing function. I am then able to mute the TV speakers volume or set it to whatever level other viewers may desire, and I can adjust the TV volume on my headphones to my needs. I have used the headphones connected to the TV via the Bluetooth Transmitter, and I have walked into other rooms in our residence, up to 30 feet away, with three walls between the transmitter and the headphones. The connection remains solid, and the sound quality is unaffected under those conditions. When viewing various programs, usually sporting events or news broadcasts, I do not notice any distracting lag between the sound and the picture on the TV. I have not tried simultaneously pairing more than one device to the transmitter, so I can't report on that capability. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality and function of this Bluetooth Receiver Transmitter. It seems to be very well built, with high quality components, and I would certainly recommend it.

This works
Added comment: I have been using this for a week. I bought 2 other devices before this, that just didn’t work. Bought another model of one of the manufacturers, more expensive, also didn’t work. Had to return for replacement one of the others, because it came used. I just put in an order for a second one of these. They work! I am using it to use headphones and ear buds to watch tv. Simple use, but was having trouble finding a device. I totally endorse this one. Easy and reliable to use! I wanted to hook my tv with an optical cable to Bluetooth headsets. Should be easy. But I bought and returned 3 other models that just would not work. This one has a screen that shows what Bluetooth device it detects. Then a little fooling around and you are hooked up. Unlike other devices I returned, the sound is clear with no clicks or pops. Plus the price is right!

High Latency (Delay) between the Bluetooth Transmitter and JBL Headphones
The Transmitter worked well when finding and connecting from my Alesis QS8.1 synthesizer keyboard 'Headphone Jack Out' to my Bluetooth JBL Headphones. Worked like a champ. Very quick. The Sound quality was fine. I did notice a slight hum from the transmitter, at higher volumes, but I overcame that by turning the volume down on the transmitter and volume up on the synthesizer. Unfortunately, there was some initial latency between the devices when I begin pressing keys on the keyboard. Abut 1/25 of a second delay. When playing the piano, that is a killer. Playing requires instantaneous feedback. So I had to send it back. Even though I never tested any other transmitters, I would venture to say this issue might be an industry wide defect and not just with this product. I guess I will have to rely on wired headphones for the time being. Having said that, I am sure the transmitter works well with TV's and Stereo Music where the delay will not be easily noticeable.

Latency issues with Optical to Optical in bypass mode, let alone in Bluetooth mode.
Sound quality was good. The setup instructions were horrible but I figured it out and was able to set it up correctly. For me the latency was a deal breaker. The way to pass through optical from TV out to optical in on our sound bar is to use what they call bypass mode. Use the mode select button to go to tx mode to pair Bluetooth headphones. You can't do both bypass optical out to optical in and listen through Bluetooth earbuds at the same time. It is either bypass mode or Bluetooth mode, not both. Anyway, the latency in bypass mode, where it is just passing optical out through to optical in, on our sound bar is so bad it looks like you are watching a foreign film where the English translation is dubbed in while the lips are moving so off the soundtrack that it looks like they are speaking in another language. For people who don't pay much attention to that sort of thing these would be great. It found my earbuds with no problem after it was powered down, even unplugged, and powered back up. It remembered the pairing without issue. But the latency was too much for me. I returned this and bought an optical splitter on Amazon that splits one in into three outs. It worked great passing through optical from of the outs of the splitter to our sound bar and there is no noticeable latency. I connected another optical cable out of the splitter to a different Bluetooth Adapter, bought on Amazon, and there was a minor amount of latency going to my Bluetooth earbuds but that adapter has aptX capability and my earbuds are a little older. But even then the latency is tolerable. I found some inexpensive earbuds on Amazon and have ordered them to try with this setup. Also with this new two piece setup (splitter and adapter) I can listen through the earbuds and the sound bar at the same time. You can turn off the sound bar and listen through the earbuds alone or vice versa without the need to get up and click a mode button. Back to this device now. If you don't care about latency I have to say this did work really well. But I couldn't deal with the latency. I was surprised to see such latency in optical to optical bypass mode. I would have thought that would be latency free as it is with the splitter I ended up using. I pretty much expected to see some latency in Bluetooth mode. But I have to say that the latency in Bluetooth mode was a lot worse with this Bluetooth Transmitter Receiver than with the Wireless Bluetooth Adapter I ended up with. The setup I ended up with (not this device) is more convenient to use (I don't have to get up and press a mode button to switch between devices). But more importantly there is no latency using optical to our sound bar and there is a small (tolerable) amount of latency using Bluetooth earbuds.

Incredible product!!!
This is great! I have a 2008 SONY Bravia 42" tv, so not Bluetooth ready. This changed that! East to hook up, I used the optical cable and get awesome stereo sound with a pair of 20 year old Bluetooth Jaybird sports ear buds and my single ear Plantronics Bluetooth for my phone. I have ordered a set of Bluetooth earphones as I like this set up so much. I find the range of reception to be decent around my house and down my driveway to the mail box. I enjoy listening to my YouTube podcasts and movies while I cook. Lag time for watching tv is not noticible. I haven't tried to cast it to my Bluetooth receiver to play in surround sound yet, but I'm sure it will be great. I'm 70 years old, not tech savvy but found this so easy to set up.

Amazing product!
This honestly works just as well as the very expensive devices. I originally bought an expensive one from a physical store, and then bought this one to test and this was identical to the expensive one. I ended up returning that one and keeping this one because it was such a cheap price. I am currently using this on my turntable and it connects to my speakers instantly. The volume control on it is useful and is easy to use!
