Confessions of a Wallflower

Trying to express your inner feelings, understanding your inner demons, and explaining to your loved ones what you've been dealing with, is something that you can't simply put into words. Especially when you are constantly afraid what people might think of you or how they might treat you differently; once you try your best to share your struggle that is not just simply a "sadness" sensation. However, Juansen Dizon poetry collection has helped me understand myself and comforted me with his words. He was able to describe a feeling that I couldn't express or explain. Confession of a Wallflower is definitely worth reading. Like, seriously go buy it now. I can't wait to buy his new book that's sometime in April, I believe.

I've following his blog - Lonely Blue Boy - on Wordpress for about 9 months, enjoying all the deep and raw emotions he is able to convey. It's what prompted me to buy the book. I've enjoyed his public work and wanted to support his efforts. I can tell you that there were so many pieces within this book which moved me, some to tears and all allowing me to be in the front row to his life. That took courage to do what he did at 19! If you ever need for something to speak to you and maybe even for you, this book does a great job of expressing what most of us have experienced in our lifetimes. Maybe not to the degree with which he has struggled but still gives us insight where we might not have had it before. I wish you all the best, Juansen. This was a brilliant book. :)

I very rarely purchase books of poetry, but Juansen's words resonated with me even though we are polar opposites. He is in the beginning half of his life, and I am in the final half; I am a mother, he is a son. (I could go on and on.) We live in totally different places on this planet and yet his poems speak intimately to me because they transcend place and time and focus on love and loss and courage.

This book was phenomenal. I'm so honored to have been able to get a copy of Juansen Dizon's Confession of a Wallflower. It was beautiful, his mastery of prose was poignant and made my heart fall, rise, and leap.

Great book,cover gets dirty fast but it is a good quality book.

Juansen Dizon's book of poetry is a sensitive and sweet examination of depression, love, loss and self-love. My favorite poem/reflection was on the concept of Home (p 185), because I relate to it so strongly. It is a self-published book, so not professionally edited. Someday I think Juansen will use all of this "raw material" for some amazing work. And for now, it was an enjoyable and insightful journey through some difficult internal struggles. I look forward to seeing where this writing leads. I really enjoy the art he shares on his blog as well, but given the book's format, that is not in the book.

I've only gone through about a 3rd of the book but I can say its been an emotional trip. A good emotional trip. To see where the author was in that time of his life and a book to feel connected to.

I don't think something this raw and personal should be rated, but I will to show support. So much respect to the author who put this out there. I read this in one sitting which is probably not the way this should be read. This definitely isn't something I would normally read as far as poetry goes, but I'm glad I did.
