The core gameplay remains true to the original, with its mix of exploration, cooperation and turn-based adventure, while the updated components and optional companion app bring it neatly into the present day. The app in particular is an excellent addition, allowing everyone to play on the same team without someone needing to take on the role of the villain. The quality of the pieces is superb. The miniatures, furniture and game tiles are sturdier and more detailed than before, and the artwork retains the rich fantasy feel that made the original so distinctive. The overall presentation - from the box design to the cards and rulebook - feels premium and well considered. It does take a little time to reacquaint yourself with the rules, especially if it’s been decades since you last played, but once familiar it flows naturally and is highly enjoyable. It is very well done, but it is different in a few ways. For example, due to rights issues “Chaos Warriors” are now “Dread Warriors” and the “Fimir” is now an “Abomination.” Furniture is also solid plastic now rather than an assembled combination of plastic/cardboard. The elf is now female. The dice are all plastic (iirc original might have been wood?). Slight differences can be seen in pretty much all of the artwork. I had the original set when I was young and am full of nostalgia for it, but overall I’d say the new set is actually an improvement. **Q: Who decided to up the cost ($230.00) on a game that hasn't even come out yet? you know we can just buy it direct for way less?** A: But it now!!! Been eyeballing this game forever and could never pull the trigger on a 300.00 used copy with missing pieces .. **Q: Is this game playable solo?** A: As of right now 1/24/2023 this expansion has not been added to the heroquest app. Meaning you cant play this solo on the app. They might add this to the app in the furture, but I have not heard anything about that yet. **Q: when will there be more in stock?** A: Thanks for your question.
