However, the course book tightly follows the syllabus, is clear and very helpful to ESL students. Update: this *was* the best. This has resulted in my having to purchase, and the students having to carry, three individual books, consuming a large part of my departmental budget, and resulting in numerous complaints from the students. This book is fully endorsed by Cambridge International Examinations board and is very well written. My staff are extremely pleased with the book, finding it to be thorough, well laid out, building excellently from one topic to the next and involving a nice mix of theory and practical on the way.
