Lee Precision 90058 Perfect Powder Measurer (Red)

Sometimes simple is good! This measure is a perfect example. Once you figure out the metering rod system it doesn't take long to dial it in. I really like how the cap fits the powder bottle, makes clean up a breeze. Charges are consistent and accurate. For plinking rounds I'd be confident in spot checking weight every 10 or 20 rounds. For more accuracy you could check every charge and trickle if necessary. I'm not a competition shooter so this works for me and is easy on the wallet. For reference my lowest charge of 27gn CFE223 was 1.82 on the metering rod, and 74 gn of Blackhorn 209 was 6.805 on the metering rod. Wish I bought this years ago when I bought my press, will definitely speed up my process.

Works well and a fraction of the cost of an electronic measure. I wouldn't recommend an electronic one. Just get this one. It's accurate enough for HPR.

Works fine with ball powders (all I use). Materials and design is a bit flimsy but if I wanted better I would have paid more. :-)

I like the VMD method of presetting the drop tube (latest VMD values available on Lee's website). It's not perfect but gets you close. It appears to drop consistent charges to a 0.1 grains, at least with CFEBLK. Haven't tried flake or extruded powders yet. Which brings me to what I dislike about this powder measure. The instructions state to run a pound of powder through it to lubricate it and remove static, and I did that. But it apparently didn't work. When I went to change powder types residual CFEBLK remained in the drum, metering tube and hopper. Very, very difficult to clean out unless you want to take it apart, which I didn't. Update 4/19/24 I used a dyer lint sheet to remove static from the thrower and that helped with the residual powder problem. I've been using it since August '22 and it does occasionally leak fine ball powder (H110, etc) but handles flake and extruded well. The markings to set the Volume on the metering rod have all but disappeared. I really like being able to attach a 1 lb bottle directly to the throw so there's no guessing what powder is being dispensed and it aids in changing powders. One thing I dislike is it's all plastic. Recently bought an RCBS Uniflow Powder Measure III. It's a different animal from my 50 year old Uniflow. I think I will like it, possibly better than the Lee. But it cost 4x as much. Back to my 50 year old RCBS Uniflow for now.

I load handgun rounds, which take far less powder than riffle rounds. 0.1gr is a much bigger percentage of a 5.5gr load than a 30+gr load so finely tuneable accuracy is very important. Once configured, I was able to achieve +-0.05gr fairly easily although, to be honest, only for a limited number of loads. All devices like this really do need a baffle added. I made thingiverse(dot)com/thing:3369148 but there are lots of ways to make such an item. After that, I could go from completely full to 1/4 full without any detectable change in charge.

A slight variation at times with the flake powder sticking the the tube wall. A good value for money powder measure.

Efficace et ultra pratique, gain de temps énorme par rapport à la prise de dosage manuel avec balance. Juste un contrôle de temps en temps pour être sûr mais sinon nickel.

Super reliable. Only thing is it takes a bit of messing around before you get your wanted load. Not a simple micrometer to set, maybe that’s just me. I found the instructions inadequate. But once set, pretty precise.
