5Cr15MoV is the current steel used, regardless of whatever stainless used to be utilized in the previous models. 5Cr15MoV isn't a bad steel - it's not as hard as 4116 or AUS8 or 4034, or even 8Cr13MoV, but it can easily be honed to a razor's edge. 5Cr15MoV needs more maintenance than harder stainless steels, but it is easy to keep sharp for an inexpensive knife. 5Cr15MoV is easier to keep clean and corrosion free than most harder stainless steels.
