I had a problem: how can I get my 4TB SSD on my main system backed up, fast? My good old, 3TB Apricorn USB3 external HDD was taking all day to do so, and I wanted to go faster. I had a spare Samsung 980PRO 2TB SSD available and wanted to leverage it. Enter the Dockcase SSD Enclosure. The enclosure is an ultra-compact, gorgeous piece of glass and aluminum that has generous fins and even a variable-speed fan for cooling. It has a smart display that gives you all the drive stats you need, and its position can be easily rotated for easily visibility in any position via the built-in case keys. It comes with a quality, certified power/data USB-C to USB-C cable rated to 10Gbps, and sports a built-in power loss protection, capacitive backup power supply to help the drive keep going during brief power sags. Drive installation was a snap, and the kit even comes with the proper Philips driver and extra screws. My 980PRO worked flawlessly, and using Hasleo Backup Suite I was able to back up my entire system in about an hour and a half. All the while as I monitored the process, the drive stayed cool and stable, along with the power supply and efficiency. It was like the first time I used a USB3 thumb drive to copy a number of large files, it was impressive, all those years ago. The verdict: 5 Stars, easily and hands down. The compatibility this enclosure has, coupled with its high-speed connectivity as well as overall build quality it represents a great value for the money. I can't recommend this enclosure enough, especially if you have a good, high-capacity SSD sitting around you'd like to leverage for a similar purpose. If your use case scenario is like mine give it a try, it won't disappoint you. Since the rated capacity of the SSDs compatible with the enclosure is 4TB, I am looking forward to replacing the 980PRO with my 4TB 990PRO in the future, which extends the value proposition even further. You can confidently stow this enclosure in your backpack, knowing it will protect your SSD. It supports NVMe and SATA M.2 drives in sizes 2230/2242/2260/2280. This enclosure's standout features include the implementation of power loss protection using a capacitor and the integrated display, which provides information about the SSD's health. The enclosure's firmware can directly access your SSD's S.M.A.R.T info. Double-pressing the side button rotates the display by 90 degrees, while holding the side button brings up three additional menus: SSD Info, About Me, and Monitor. During testing, I used the Teamgroup MP34 2TB drive and connected the enclosure to a computer with a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port. I achieved impressive sequential read speeds of 956 MBps and sequential write speeds of 851 MBps, as measured by CrystalDiskMark. These speeds are more than sufficient for running an operating system or for using the enclosure as an external game drive. While the enclosure can become warm during operation, it effectively dissipates heat away from the SSD. In my tests with the Teamgroup MP34, temperatures peaked at 52 degrees Celsius. The drive never overheated and remained well below its maximum operating temperature of 70 degrees Celsius. It's worth noting that the speeds and temperatures of the installed drive may vary based on the specific port and drive being used. Overall, the unique power loss protection and integrated display make this NVMe enclosure stand out among other products in its category. The power loss protection offers peace of mind, preventing file corruption in case of sudden power loss or when forgetting to dismount the device. Additionally, The integrated display has great resolution and clarity. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a premium M.2 NVMe enclosure.

I received this product today and was immediately impressed by the build quality. It has nice rounded corners on the sides and I like the matte aluminum alloy with the lettering done very well. The top is smooth tempered glass, which unfortunately does attract fingerprints, but hides the LCD screen when not in use. The bottom is again an aluminum alloy which serves as a heatsink, with a smaller plate on the inside to ensure connection to the drive. The box includes an additional screw in case you lose one of the screws (one for the drive and one for the case), two washers to help ensure the drive is seated against the heatsink, and a small Phillips screwdriver. The cable sits firmly on the USB-C port, and includes both USB-C and USB-A 3.1 (via attached adapter) for increased compatibility. I wish the cord was longer, though. It's only about a foot long. The case does its job very well, and although it's rare (for me, at least) to experience a power outage while the drive is in use, and to not have a UPS or battery on the system the drive is connected to, I suppose it's nice to have an extra method of ensuring my data is safe in the event a USB port loses power or someone disconnects the drive during read/write. Overall, it's a nice case that I like for its build quality and functionality, and the extras are nice to have.

Great device doesn’t disconnect like others. Stays cool and gives great info to readout on your ssd. As well having the external powered option is handy for devices that don’t give out enough power in their USB c ports

Compact high quality enclosure. Screen shows all the information you would need about your M.2 SSD. It gets very warm when constantly reading/writing but that is normal. Mine only got up to 45C. I'm using it with a 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus. Speeds are very good with USB 3.1 Gen2 ports on my PC. I wish it came with a silicone protective case like on the manufacturers website.
