I have a wired mouse and wired keyboard connected to a usb hub. And I keep switching between my personal and work laptop with this usb hub. This might damage the ports. So went with the smaller wired extender so that it is also not hard to reach. So the 2 cables are now connected to the laptops and I can disconnect and reconnect to these extension cables rather than the laptop ports. I did not want a long cable or the small otg port like one's. One is unwanted length which is not useful and the otg like ones will be harder to reach.
