I'd been searching for a 120V line voltage detector for ages, but they were all over $50, and some as much as $160. Then I saw this beauty! Inexpensive! Easy to use! Compact! And again, a lifesaver! Unfortunately, determining which one to use was the issue, and there was no way I was going to spend hours and hours cutting little notches in them and test with my multimeter. Now theres a 2-gang outlet which now runs the attic fan and LED light! Next was tracing wires in the garage walls. The previous owner had a small shop and added an additional fuse to the panel. I have separated the three wires and all 3 beep after every bulb showing power on all 3 wires but bulbs don’t light.** A: It will beep even though the the wires are dead. Test a lamp cord or something you know is hot. The beep should sound different than the beep you are hearing on the Christmas lights. Listen for that beep when you are testing the lights. **Q: I have outlet that not sure if it is 110 or 220V, will this tester tell me?** A: Tester will NOT differentiate between 110V or 220V, but will tell you if the outlet is live. **Q: Will it work on automotive circuits (12V DC)?** A: This one does not.
