BeeCastle 8 Frame Langstroth Bee Hive Coated with Beeswax Includes Beehive Frames and Waxed Foundations (2 Deep Boxes & 2 Medium Boxes)

I have thought about beekeeping a a hobby for many years and now that I'm not able to work a regular job I decided to give it a go. After taking a few classes and researching what kind of hive I would best be able to manage this turned out to be a very good value for the money and was shipped to my home and I find it was quite easy to assemble and set up. The pieces are all coated with a generous amount of beeswax. The frames are included and also require assembly, however the the wood for the frames is not coated, the foundations are dipped and they too have a good coating of beeswax on them both the deep and medium foundations are included. I was unsure how long it would take for bees to draw out the comb but I really didn't need to worry. I received my bee packages on Thursday April 25, 2024 and I followed the instructions given for installing the new bees and on day seven I checked to be certain the queen was out of her cage and was pleasantly surprised to find a lot of drawn out honeycomb, even some burr comb built around the queen cage. I'm including a photo to show just how much extra there was. I had to remove this in order to put the last frame in and to keep things uniform inside the hive. I'm told the reason this was so fast to build is the amount of beeswax coating the foundations. Very happy with my experience so far

Honestly, I am not terribly handy with tools. With that in mind, I must say that putting together this beehive was almost a meditatively, relaxing experience. The workmanship was so precise, the directions were clear and everything just fit together so well. What a great kickoff to this beekeeping season!

Nice beehive but you definitely need to pre drill ALL HOLES prior to nailing frames and screwing together boxes. Note there are two screw lengths. For what? I have no idea. The instructions do not say. Either way, you need just about the skinniest drill bit you have to pre drill the frames, and then a few sizes up for the boxes. If I had wood glue, I would have glued all the frames before assembly, but I didn't and it's ok. Something to consider for strength of final product. How will these cracked boxes hold up? Only time will tell. I think I'll try to glue them when I get glue and re drill holes.

I am a new beekeeper so nothing to compare these to. But, they were easy to assemble (I used wood glue along with the hardware during assembly), and they are very sturdy. I really like the look of the natural wood that shows through the beeswax coating. My bees are doing very well and seem happy in their new home.

These hives came together quickly and well. High-quality screws and nails were provided, and it took half the time to build as my other hive (a different manufacturer). I had a problem with the shipper, and the seller was very helpful and responsive in assisting. Overall a very good experience.

Everything is wax coated. Results in great looking beehive. Not painting this. Bees should be comfortable. Parts accurately cut. Instructions brief. Not clear on which parts glued and nailed (frame tops). All parts and fasteners are included. Base board and top cover come assembled and complete. Previous reviews mentioned re-drilling hole deeper with small drill bit. I did this with good results. One small, minor split when putting together boxes. Be prepared for hammering in a lot of small nails for assembly of frames. Requires some care putting frames together. Easy to rate this 5 star.

The 8 frame 4 box beehive is awesome. It looks and feel great with the bee wax on it. seems sturdy once put together. Because of the bee wax coating it repels water and no staining needed. The kit did come with missing part but customer service responded and sent replacement piece on the first notification. Love it!
