No, it didn't come in a box only the bubble wrap white envelope. The A4 size is small and very nice for travel or small pictures. It needs to stay plugged in to turn on so if you take it for travel, you'll need a travel battery with it. It lights up really nicely though. I use it when I travel so I can just put it in my computer bag.

Can this be used to trace on embroidery fabric

Probably depends on the thickness and colour of the material. You would have to place the screen, then the image to be copied, under the material for the light to shine through, turn it up to max light then trace it out. Won't work on darker fabrics, thin white cotton would work I expect. Trial & error, I'm afraid.
