Review: Wago Wire Nuts: Worth Every Penny for Easy, Time-Saving Connections! - I recently purchased Wago wire nuts for an electrical project, and I can’t recommend them enough! While they’re slightly pricier than traditional twist wire nuts, the ease of use and time savings make them worth every single penny. The lever-lock design is a game-changer—stripped wires slide in effortlessly, and a quick flip of the lever secures the connection tightly. No more wrestling with twisting or taping! I was able to complete my wiring tasks in half the time, and the clear housing lets you visually confirm the connection is solid. They’re also reusable, which is a huge plus for future adjustments. The build quality is top-notch, and they feel incredibly reliable for both home and professional use. If you’re looking for a faster, safer, and more convenient way to make wire connections, Wago wire nuts are absolutely the way to go. Worth the investment!
Review: I'm just a fan of good high-quality hardware - To start, I didn't receive these free for review- I paid for these out of my own pocket and have no connection with the manufacturer of WAGOs or any of their affiliates. I'll be copying and pasting this review on the other sized WAGO connector pages - just so you know I'm not a bot or a shill. I'm just a fan of good high-quality hardware. I ordered two-, three-, and five-conductor WAGO connectors and have been using them extensively around the house and for work projects. Super easy to use, I don't have to remember which color nut goes with which AWG, and most importantly, in addition to giving a good, solid connection, they pack very nicely in switch/junction boxes. I hate fighting with wire nuts, trying to fit them into junction boxes, especially since a lot of the newer electronic switches are a lot bigger than the old toggle switches. They also make removing and replacing wires a cinch. A lot of U.S. electricians poo-poo these connectors, equating them to other less-reliable push-in connectors or using the back-stab slots on switches. I'm not an electrician, but over 20+ years I've had a lot of electrical/electronic training, done a lot of electrical/electronic work personally and professionally, and am very familiar with the National Electrical Code and National Fire Codes and I feel confident I can identify a safe, reliable connection. Plus, I don't want my house to burn down. These are UL, ABS, and CSA listed and meet NEC requirements. I've also handled safety and use certifications for electronics in the E.U. and in Australia/New Zealand. Their testing and standards are much more stringent than ours and WAGOs have been certified and in use in both areas for years. Two cautions: 1) Make sure the locking lever is fully seated and visually check to ensure the wire is properly seated. The casing is clear and wires are visible, and connection can be verified with a multimeter using the little probe ports. 2) There are a lot of knock-offs showing up on eBay and various other venues - make sure you're getting genuine WAGOs and not fakes.

## Features

- Works for solid, stranded, and fine-stranded conductors
- Easy-to-set-up design for convenient use
- Perfect for installing long cable with larger conductor sections

## Questions & Answers

**Q: No one cares if they are ul approved ... are they nec approved?**
A: YES, They are an NFPA-70 (NEC) approved device. I have never had an inspector reject a UL device including Wagos. However, I have had an inspector reject a non-listed device before. I used these on all my jobs, which are permitted and inspected and have never had an issue.

**Q: How does the clamping strength compare to a crimp? Is it safe to use for a semi moving wire?**
A: I can't speak to these connectors being used on a semi, it seems that these are really designed for use on home wiring but I could be wrong. What I can say is that, if you use these where they're going to be exposed to the elements, you better make sure they're filled with dielectric grease before inserting your wire. I, so far, haven't seen anything that says these are pre-filled as such. Also, anything carrying power should be fused as close to the power source as possible with a reliable splice connection anywhere between the fuse and battery/power source. To address a comment from someone who previously answered this question, I WOULD NEVER USE A WIRE NUT ON ANY VEHICLE OR MACHINE! I have over 20 years of experience installing, maintaining and unF***ing voice radios, data radios, telemetry, etc in light trucks, service bodies, Freightliners, Sterlings and machinery. When I see a wire nut my immediate response to the driver/operator is, "you tapped into this yourself, didn't you?" And I've never gotten "no" for an answer. And every single time, I'm working on their stuff because something isn't working. DON'T EVER USE WIRE NUTS IN AUTOMOTIVE OR MACHINERY APPLICATIONS!!! Wire nuts are for home wiring, PERIOD!

Ok, I'm off my soapbox now...

**Q: are they UL approved?**
A: the "cUL" listing tells you that the product is "UL" for Canada. check with the manufacturer to see if the product is luted for use in the US.

**Q: Which connector will allow the connection of 10 gauge stranded to 12 gauge stranded?**
A: These connectors are rated for 20 AMPs and upto 12 Gauge wire. You can put a 12 gauge and lets say a 16 gauge into the same wago and it will lock, but you can not use 10 gauge wire which is rated for 30 amps in these connectors.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better than wire nuts!!
*by G***R on November 5, 2025*

If you do controls work like I do, these are awesome! Help keep things looking neat and uncluttered inside of a controls box. I'm sure these would be great for ANYONE doing electrical work as well. Very easy to use, just flip the lever, stick the wires in and flip the levers back down....done deal. They hold up well, don't seem to be flimsy or poorly made and they're light to carry around in your tool bag. These things work so much better than wire nuts and, in my opinion, look better and are safer. They don't fall off as easily as wire nuts. DEFINITELY recommend you pick up a box or 2 of these bad boys!
