If you have patience and the right setup with diamond honing plates you can actually flatten the back and resharpen the leading edge but you need to ask if its cheaper than your time to just get a replacement. This is a OUTSTANDING scraper. I got it for a home restoration but tried it out on scraping some iron intake gasket material off and boy did it. I was scraping more than gasket material off and it left a mirror like surface. There are a few different blades available. I ended up buying the larger Bahco scraper as well as the ergonomics works well with me for comfort and power scraping. This does not have your typical rolled edge like in the Bahco wood finish scrapers so no burr necessary. It is very sharp and very well made. **Q: Where is this scraper manufactured?** A: Oops!!! I rechecked on my scraper and found a small-print "Made in Sweden" on the handle that I had missed. The previous reply I sent was information from an internet search. The forward hand knob controls pressure while the handle applies the pull for precision and ease of use. The blade is very sharp carbide so will remain sharp through a lot of use. The blade ends are ever so slightly curved up so they won't tend to dig in when scraping a wider surface. One of the attached pictures shows use of a block of black walnut. The scraped surface has no visible striations, rather looking as if it's been smoothed with fine sandpaper. I did have one minor problem; the combo-Philips/slotted screw used to clamp the blade holder was exceptionally tight. I had to clamp the tool in a padded vise and use a thick slotted driver bit to fit the screw slot perfectly. Then used an impact driver to break it free, though a manual square shaft screwdriver with wrench for applying torque would probably have worked as well. In any case, no damage to the screw head or threads in the cast aluminum handle.
