Does this work in an aluminium case?

The only problem with this is that Aluminum is a non magnetic type of metal. You would need some way to attach the screen material to the case. The screen material would work as a filter you just need a way to attach it. I could suggest maybe checking a hardware or art supply stores for some type of attachment with a channel made to slide a flat object into for display on a wall or glass.

Is there any way to attach these to an acrylic side panel? Could the strips be put inside to attach to those outside?

if you can drill very small holes and find 4 screws and nuts to attach could always glue to inside of acrylic
