It depends on how much water is coming up against your door. **Q: Why can’t you use this outside? How thick or high does it get?** A: only an inch or so thick. we use inside garage door. **Q: Are these reusable?** A: I got some two fall seasons ago that were black. They worked extremely well for what I was wanting them for. I stored them in a dry area and out of the sun. Last fall I bought some more but they were orange. For what ever reason they did not work as well, so I hauled out the old ones and sure enough, most of them still expanded and worked well. If they lose the inside material they will not expand.
