    "Potential" as Usual.

*by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2017*

Lots of potential here. Just think. With all this potential you can buy this now and essentially beta test the product for everyone else. (Meanwhile the features that eventually reach the second iteration will more than likely not be applied to the original version. And since the original version didn't sell as well as expected, and because the "production process has been refined" you can buy the second generation for 10 - 15% less than the first generation. Oh, and by the way, your first generation product is now worth significantly less.) Sound familiar? The app works, but leaves lots to be desired. Imagine two tiny virtual joysticks to control your shot. Seriously. That's what you're getting with the app. A timelapse function is present and works great; easily competing with other gimbals. (Meanwhile, let's use the entire screen for finite micro adjustments please. Then again, just like many of the products on the market the realm of "finite user control" or even "refined user control" falls into the category of a "potential" update.) Wouldn't that be nice? The modes are ok; not exactly intuitive... Thinking "laxidazical" might best describe the operation. To be specific, it's the amount of effort required to make tilts and pans in follow modes. The gimbal is likely to be many seconds behind your input. The movements are smooth, however, the duration of time to complete the move appear to be hampered by a the duration of time needed to register the gimbal operator's desired camera movement. (By the way, the camera movement is not that much further stabilized than the GH5's internal IBIS, in my opinion. Arm movement while walking and foot impact can only truly allow about a 30 - 50% improvement over just simply hand-holding the camera with DUAL IS / IBIS activated.)The gimbal made noises with light-footed jogging when flying a GH5 + 12-35 lens combo. Additionally, the right-side motor (near the camera grip) will scrape the top of the pistol grip handle; depending upon the balance configuration of your camera/lens combo. If the gimbal were any better, I would have made an effort to fly the rig. However, the app, the program parameters via CPU, and the poor build quality / design choices created the need for a return. To quickly highlight the CPU custom parameters issues, they are simply not applying the technical parameters properly. I weighed my camera then inputted the weight into the program. Next, the gimbal shook irradically. The answer, state the camera weighs less than it actually does, like a half pound even though the camera weighs approximately 2 pounds. ( Please note that the gimbal was properly calibrated before flying/testing.)The presentation of the product is great. The case is nice, the batteries appear to be top-quality, and the feel of the pistol grip handle is surprisingly soft to the touch.Last, but not least, the joystick functions as an on/off parameter; meaning it's not touch sensitive. Even worse, attempting to pan while in a follow mode will jolt the gimbal / camera out of it's alignment and you'll loose your shot. When a gimbal is seconds behind the user's input the need for a joystick control seems appropriate, in my opinion."Potential," in this case, means very little actual finite control and/or functionality; as usual. To me, this is a "usual 3-star product" that appears to need a significant following in order to ever prove it's value on the market and/or in the hands of professionals.

    Extremely disappointing: HOPEFUL UPDATE!

*by T***R on Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2017*

I'm a commercial videographer out of northeast Ohio that primarily shoots on location. I purchased this gimbal thinking how the payload is impressive and, with a variety of options for camera/lens setup, I could replace jibs, sliders, cable systems, etc. Especially on wedding shoots, I'd love to be able to carry in a few cameras, a tripod, and this gimbal. Potentially being able to get all the shots I want without making a dozen trips to my car.First shoot was at a large music festival. I was backstage getting b-roll as the headlining band was coming out. Out of nowhere, gimbal quickly pitches backwards, jamming my lens into the tilt motor. Missed the money shot. I thought my batteries were low but the batteries on this gimbal are actually really good. Turned it off, turned in back on, same result a few minutes later. This process continued until I gave up thinking that I had overheated it somehow even though I kept it off most of the time.Next shoot was a commercial for a local cable tv spot. The pitch "freak out" was now happening every few seconds.Next day was a high profile wedding. Now it's not only freaking out, it won't stay powered on even with fresh batteries. Thank goodness we brought the Zhiyun and a mirrorless for a backup!Contacted the manufacturer. As always, they implied user error which is laughable. Then they asked me to update the firmware which is a nightmare since everything is poorly translated from Chinese. Since the unit won't stay powered I can't stay connected to my computer long enough to start the firmware upload. Then they asked for video proof which I was glad to send. There is so much potential for this to top even the Ronin but it just flat out doesn't work. I'll update when I hear back from the manufacturer.Update: manufacturer has actually been very helpful with connecting me to the right people to try and find a resolution. I want to make sure readers understand that the concept of this gimbal makes the Ronin look silly. Up until it malfunctioned, I was blown away as was my colleagues who have also used the Ronin. I contacted the third party seller and if we can reach a quick and fair solution, I'll be awarding the product 5 stars.Updated update: Gudsen and the seller have been great about getting this resolved and I have a new gimbal that works perfectly out of the box. I haven't shot with it yet but it's smoother than the first one and the joystick works which I didn't even realize the defective one didn't.

Worst purchase of equipment I have ever made

*by I***E on Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2018*

Worst purchase of equipment I have ever made. It does not work. I have tried over and over again to get it to act right. The instructions on how to use this are horrible. They put no time in creating this product. Like this might be a scam. Do not waste your money. I have a Canon 7D and this gimbal can barely hold it. It is pretty much useless without the controller. I waited to long to return it so now I am stuck with it. So if I can save somebody from investing your hard earned money on this, I will take that. The Zhiyun Crane gimbals are way better and way easier to control. This only works for like two minutes then it stops. Very very disappointed in this product. Will never purchase from this company again.
