Simple, priced right, intuitive. Maybe a bit cheap looking
(a) Packaging & Shipping ... you do pay for this. Fulfillment put a sticker on the side of the box and sent it through the mail where I found it crammed into my mailbox. Box was all torn up. Kind of disgusted by shipping and handling. Rating ... 1 star. (b) Product. First Impression: I bought this controller to replace a failing Rain Bird. Loved the old controller. Hefty knob on the front. Had a cover. Very tidy install. Intuitive. So, I was hoping for more of the same; probably looking for retro tech. So, my expectations were not met by the newer and cheaper looking model. I am the sort of person that likes to handle things before buying them. I probably would not have bought this unit had I seen it first. The install is fairly easy. I needed: screwdriver, hammer, level, pencil, drill bits and paint to touch up the wall. I marked all the wires. Then I removed the old controller and wall anchors. I spackled up the holes and painted the small area. Then I lined up the new controller and installed new wall anchors. Took maybe 5 minutes to mount the new controller, attach the wires I had marked earlier and then program it. I rated it 5 stars for price and ease of programming. I just wanted a simple ole fashioned irrigation controller for a reasonable price, that was fairly intuitive to program. Fits my needs just fine.

Rain Bird install...Easy Peasy!!!
Needed to replace my old timer because a lightening power surge blew my timer out. The irrigation company I use wanted to charge me $300 to replace it...NOT! Did my research and found the Rain Bird for $60. Easiest install ever! Took down my old timer and hung the new Rain Bird using the same wiring...BAM! Done in under 20 min! If a 67 year old female can do it...so can you! Best and easiest product to install! Don't let your irrigation company rip you off! Get Rain Bird! You'll be glad you did! Update: Well folks...the installation was a breeze...easy peasy...so it gets 5 stars for that! BUT...after a few weeks, it stopped working. Tried to unplug and re-plug, re-programmed the system to watering EVERY day from watering EVERY OTHER day...no luck! I am so disappointed!!! I have an email to customer service a few days ago...waiting for a response...bummer! Will let you know if they get back to me or not! :( FURTHER UPDATE: By golly... I think I have resolved my "system stopped working" problem!!! My problem was in the PROGRAMMING of the system! I had programmed my system to run "every other day" and when I tried to re-program it to run "every day" I only programmed ONE zone...thinking that it would include ALL the zones...NOT!! You MUST re-program ALL the zone to be exactly alike...that means turning the knob and re-programming EVERY zone and make sure that they are EXACTLY the same. Once I made sure of that...my system is running like clockwork!!! I was able to thatch and re-seed my lawn for the winter and have the system water it every day so the seed won't dry out! Oh Happy Day! So...if your system suddenly doesn't work for some reason...check your programming!!!

Simple and Effective Controller
This was used to replace a 20 year old Rain Bird controller which was similar in function. This unit, however, is much simpler to program and meets all the requirements I need for a controller including a rain sensor connection. It also has a 72 - hr delay switch which can be useful for reducing excess watering. It would be nice if it could be activated remotely but probably not cost effective to have a wifi connection for this one function. Looking at all the wifi connected controller reviews seems to indicate many people had problems making them function properly.

Rain bird installation review
I have had this for about 2 weeks now, psyching myself up to install it. I must have watched a dozen videos at this point. Finally, decided to do it today and all in all, it was do-able and it works, which would be 5-star. But the instructions, although clear, made it more difficult. Typically people are replacing an existing system and have a jumble of wires to work with. And so installing the panel on the wall first was actually very difficult for getting the wires to go into numbered spaces. I would recommend people go ahead and get the majority of the wires in first (except for the three above the screw; leave those to be completed last after it’s installed on the wall). I also did plug it in to make sure it worked but did not plug it in for good until after I had the wires all hooked up. So due to the unnecessary difficulty with installing the wires and the fact that it’s only been installed for 3-hours so no experience with functionality, I deducted a star. But I expect it will work out fine and the zone set up was VERY easy. I am pleased that we didn’t pay a contractor to replace it. Even at the height of difficulty, I scoffed at that cost!

Anyone can install this
The house I purchased had a watering automatic controller that came with 100 pages of programming instructions. WTF! After multiple attempts at programming it, I decided to toss it! I purchased the SST900IN de cause it is easy to install and program. It is so easy anyone can do it!

Good value, easy set up, works well (so far)
I replaced a 20+ year old Hunter Pro-C. The modules started to go bad on that (Hunter uses add on modules to expand the number of zones...three zones to a module). Replacement modules for the Hunter are about $45 on Amazon. For that price I figured it'd be easier to just get a new controller given the 9-zone Rainbird was just $69 on Amazon. Wiring was easy, programming easy, and it is easier to use and understand than the Hunter model. I tested all the zones and everything seems to be working. I read some negative reviews but that has not been my experience yet. If I have any problems, I will change my review. Until then, based on value, ease of set up and use, this is a 5-star. For those interested, this is assembled in Mexico (origin of parts is not stated on the box).

Will buy more
Easy to install and configure. New technology and very good price. I used it to replace our old and expensive Rain Bird. A Rain Bird replacement would cost me about $200 and this was $80 doing the same thing.

Not meant for Europe. It is 110 Volt.

I owned the 6 zone RainBird in the past. I had to upgrade to the 9 zone after adding additional zones. This model did not disappoint. Easy to set up.

The price is good, it works as advertised, my only reservation is it feels cheap. Like it wont last, but I guess you get what you pay for so am crossing my fingers it endures for a while.
