Abus Granit Extreme 59 U-Lock, 10"/16mm

This is the only U lock that would fit around the frame and the rear wheel of our Aventon Ebikes. It's expensive,yes, and a little heavy,yes, but it's rated higher than every other one,and it rests nicely between the seat post and the rear fender when not in use. So we don't have to carry it or store it somewhere. I tried several other U locks, but this is the only one big enough for our fat tire bikes. I also use a Kriptonite chain with this U lock to secure it to the bike rack when it's not being used. This is the lock you buy after your 1500.00 Ebike is stolen, because you had a cheaper lock or cable on it, or you didn't have your lock with you. Will it stop a professional thief who has the time,tools and opportunity, probably not. It will encourage them to look for easier targets though.

I live in a condo building and we have had multiple bikes stolen from the bike cage down in the parking garage. So I know its only a matter of time before the thieves eye my new Trek. I did my research and this Abus lock gets some of the best reviews from lock pickers and testers. The lock itself is harder than most to pick. Its big, thick, and heavy for sure. I wont use it when I am out riding because of the weight but its great for use in the bike storage which is my main threat for theft. I use this Abus to lock my frame and then have some cheaper U locks on the rear tire and front tire. So I have Three U lock on my bike while its in the cage! While no lock is fool proof I felt it was a more a matter of making my bike harder to steal than the others in the cage so the thieves will move on to easier targets when they see my bike on serious lock down.

Great protection against theft but heavy. Large enough to fit around bulky posts and to lock multiple bicycles together. Too heavy to carry on a bicycle but great for bicycles at home. Can be carried by a motorcycle and Abus makes a bracket to help carry the lock. You can register your key code with Abus and buy extra keys if you lose a key. Its slightly less secure Abus 58 sibling has a narrower but longer shackle if that fits your needs better. I recommend lubricating the lock on a periodic schedule.

So, I got this Extreme Bike Lock, and now I'm pretty sure it's got a Ph.D. in stubbornness. I tried to unlock it, and it looked at me like, "You really think it's gonna be that easy?" It's so unyielding; even my determination has given up. My bike's on a permanent staycation, and the lock's the bouncer at the door. Thieves, good luck – my bike's living its best locked-up life!

Again, solid but HEAVY. I mean, workout style heavy. If you’re concerned about adding weight, skip this model.

nobody eavin has tride to steal my bike with this on there, and they did when i was using a cable lock almost got thru it while i wase in the store this is a bad ass lock thanks

Beste slot ever …

I bought this lock 20 years ago and have used it pretty much daily ever since. Only issue is the original key began to wear out 2 years ago and so I switched to the 2nd key. Bike thieves will take one look and move on. Why waste their time and energy when other locks are so much easier? I've had a number of expensive bikes in the last 20 years and to the best of my knowledge no one has ever attempted to steal them. I've locked them up in Cambridge city centre (bike theft capital of UK) and downtown Vancouver, another high bike theft location. Only downside? It's heavy. Spend the money, get the best lock, and leave as an heirloom to your kids.

This lock is INSANE, if you are looking for a U-lock for your scooter or motorcycle then this is what you want, the shackle is massive and no bolt cutters are getting through this NO WAY.. Abus claim this is the best/strongest U-lock in the world and when you see it in the flesh you can see why as it's a MONSTER!!!! The shackle is 19mm thick "with coating" and for those that don't no about security 19mm links e just about the biggest you can get... If your looking for a lock BUY THIS.......
