Notes on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was written for people who use CFD in their work, research or study, providing essential knowledge to perform CFD analysis with confidence. It offers a modern perspective on CFD with the finite volume method, as implemented in OpenFOAM and other popular general-purpose CFD software. Fluid dynamics, turbulence modelling and boundary conditions are presented alongside the numerical methods and algorithms in a series of short, digestible topics, or notes , that contain complete, concise and relevant information. The book benefits from the experience of the authors: Henry Weller, core developer of OpenFOAM since writing its first lines in 1989; and, Chris Greenshields, who has delivered over 650 days of CFD training with OpenFOAM. Review: very nice book - very nice book, very informative and precise. Review: A great bite sized readable explanation of how CFD works. - This was exactly the type of book I was looking for. I have been working with CFD for a long time, but it has always been a closed box to me. I know how to make it run, but have always wanted to learn more about how it works and the maths behind the scenes. The authors do a great job, introducing topics in small bite sized chunks. I tend to pick the book up when I have a few minutes and read a few pages at a time. Even approaching like this somehow I seem to be retaining the information, which is a real testament to the book and the unique approach it employs.

Recommended for CFD beginners
Easy to read and navigate through, with small 2-paged subjects . Useful for a beginner on the topic of CFD, but includes topics for an experienced user. Friendly language, not a formal scientific paper.

Concise, but not a textbook
The two-page to a topic can become limiting. But gets a lot of information over.

Excellent CFD review
As others pointed out before, this book is not a typical introductory course on CFD. Nevertheless it provides an on point and well written summary of many important topics as well as some basic principles and concepts. I definitely gained some more profound insight and alternative perspectives regarding quite a few things. Definitely worth the price.

Cristallino!
