This machine is mainly plastic, and seems a bit flimsy, but after realizing that sometimes the thread would get stuck, I also realized it would get fix by gently rolling the wheel on the right side.I was able to make this dress for my daughters birthday with this machine, so it definitely works; it just requires a learning curve. It was difficult to work with the satin in the dress, but I fixed it by ironing.Is it like a Brother or singer machine? No. But it would work for simple things.
