Maybe you can research the difference between these compounds. **Q: Why has calcium been added when calcium interferes with iron absorption? what am i missing, i genuinely want to know. thanks!** A: A larger amount of Calcium would prevent absorption, like a typical 600mg caplet or two. This is only 18mg, a trace. It may be there to aid in stabilization of the Iron Sulfate, and to help prevent the potential nausea when the tablet dissolves. I take such a supplement daily without issues, but I always take them with a meal, or at least some dense bread. Many supplements if taken without food tend to be wasted. They just pass on through without being properly absorbed. A few should be taken on an empty stomach. Do some light research to learn about any supplements you take. They work best if balanced, such as advised by a nutritionist. I take Calcium supplements separately from most other supplements, either at least an hour before or after, and always with food. Even Calcium on an empty stomach can cause upset. BTW: I am just a consumer, I am not a nutritionist. None of my comment should be construed as authoritative advice. I recommend all such advice come from professionals. **Q: is this vegan?** A: They are tablets, not capsules. Tablets are highly pressurised powder, whereas capsules are liquids in casing. The casing is usually made of gelatin (animal product).
