Vintage still, great looks
Great piece to make a retro razor knife from.

Best on the market.
Nice fit to one's hand, especially when using for Hours. The retractable ones are nice I guess, for Box cutters, not so good for hours of drywall cutting, and more serious use. I have an older one, used far MANY hours. Though I should buy a spare in case Non-Retractabls were outlawed.

Buy once
People buy tools that must be replaced when they break. I was pleased to find Stanley still makes this model that will out live me.

Great board knife with 1 flaw.
I've been using Stanley board knives for years. I am a Union Drywaller/Framer. The first version of this knife had a big flaw. The end that held the blade in place had no reinforcement and would, in time, cut through the casing of the knife and render it useless. That issue was fixed. Now with this one, the screw to the casing is the problem. Nowadays we use our cordless impact to remove the screw to change the blade. the problem is when you reinsert it it reams out the hole due to the steel screw fastening to the aluminum casing. It's an easy fix, put a steel insert in the back side of the casing, done, perfect board knife. I would pay a little more for the tool if they fixed that. All the drywallers I work with complain about that issue.

A Time Tested Stanley Classic
I've been using these since I was a kid. Take note, there is no blade protection, so this knife requires a small amount of practical application and a little bit of intelligence to use safely. As such, I don't recommend these knives for GEN Y, Z, or Alpha. Don't post a 1 star review because you cut yourself before even using it. That actually deserves a 5 star review because it does what it was designed to do. I take pretty good care of my tools, so I stripped the paint off them and cleaned them up so they look good. They'll last forever.

Great knife for Vinyl (resilient) flooring trades.
Proven Sturdy knife. As a commercial flooring installer I've used these knives daily on sheet vinyl flooring, luxury tile, vct, ect. Very good for running down a straight edge. Like any tool, they do wear out after a year or so of everyday use. The blade starts to wiggle as the nubs wear out. The metal doesn't seem as good as it used to be in these 199's but thats pretty much the case for everything you buy now.
