A: Pi seem to get a buzzing sound occasionally when it is very close to my cell phone. Maybe some kind of interference but as long as cell is a foot away from unit, it works fine

**Q: just how durable is this device as I can't afford a second one senior 85 yr.old**
A: It is small & light enough to withstand most drops. Don't leave on clothes headed for the wash or drop in bath or toilet.  It amplifies ALL sounds, not just what you want to hear. Quite durable with common sense. Earphone would be most likely to fail and they are cheap.
