Good timer watch so far, especially for the price. Its hard to beat!!!
So far so good. Used it twice but will update if it fails in the future prematurely. So far, it works well. Best thing about this is that it has a light and BIG numbers to read. No guess work when timing track kids. lots of good functions comparable to other more expernsive timers. For the price, it is hard to beat. i serached thru many different models and this is the only one with all the functions you need in XC or Track & Field with a light, large numbers, and a good price point. Only negative is that it does not have an on/off button - you have to pull the battery every time to turn it off, which is rediculous (DRETEC, are you listening - fix this!). Also, they falsely advertised to say that its made in Japan, and it has a big "Made in China" sticker on it!! FIX this TOO. Don't lie to people, hoping it will sell more - make a good product, be proud of it and move on. People will buy it from good reviews if its worth it. Otherwise this is good to go so far.

Perfect.
I coach track. Sometimes it gets dark. I need a stopwatch I can see. This watch is cheaper than the ones I normally get (by about 1/2) but I think is laid out better and functions just as well. The beep is pleasant but not annoying. The click is sufficient to know you pressed the button successfully. The screen is easily read with large numbers. The stopwatch layout is perfect. You can see the running time. You can see the last split time (lap time) as well as the cumulative time for that split. You can see all of that without a pause in the current running time - which is very nice. The sound can easily be turned off and on. The backlight can easily be turned off and on. Hint: hit mode until you get to the time, then you can hit the start/stop button to turn the sound off/on (there is an icon that shows up); and you can hit the lap button to turn the backlight off/on (another icon shows up). Then navigate back to the stopwatch function. I have not used it in the rain but if it is indeed waterproof this may well be the perfect stopwatch, especially for the price, depending on longevity. Don't hesitate to buy this thing. Update - One track season, one off season, and one cross country season later and this thing is still kicking through rain and heat. I have bought more and have handed them out to other coaches.

I really like this stopwatch!
Reasonably accurate. It works well as a stopwatch and the timer on it is great! Good large numbers and good beep noise when working the buttons also it can be silent for choice which I like. It has an alarm that I can set at any time day or night. And it's easy to read! forgot to mention the buttons can be operated even under running water just as advertised! The backlight is by the button where you would adjust the time. On the time and date mode you press the D button where you would adjust the time and after adjusting the time you push that button on it's left side. It's tricky but I found out by tinkering with it because it was on before I tested my ability to change the battery. That button is on the bottom where you turn quickly on and off the backlight. The same button you would use to cause adjustment of the time and date.

Working again
The functionality is excellent, but it's not 100% waterproof. Died after 3 months of casual use at the pool so I pulled the battery and after some "dry rice therapy" it works again with a fresh battery. Will update if anything goes south.

Design Flaw or Malfunction
I walk out of doors and early in the morning, so it's usually dark and weather can be a factor. I have purchased quite a number of different brands of stopwatches, but seemingly I can't find a single one that doesn't die, if it gets wet. This stopwatch seemed to tout both, (although I never really got to test the rain part of it. More in a minute on that.) I look for two things in a stopwatch (beyond accuracy): Does it have a backlight and is it waterproof? The 'duh' factor for waterproofing should be the first thing that should be a designer should look at... and YET. I realize many sports can be conducted in doors out of rain, cold, heat, but come on! xP My first recommendation is that if you need to be part of a sport that is outdoors, and the manufacturer says their stopwatch is water resistant... they aren't! Find another stopwatch that's truly waterproof. So, with all that said, here are my reasons for returning this item and more importantly what you should know about it: Pros: 1) Watch display is large and easily readable with a quick glance. 2) It measures time in hundredths of seconds, which personally I believe ensures accuracy of the time. 3) It has other functions: Alarms, Date / Time, etc. 4) Fairly easy to setup and program 4) and finally it looks good, easy to read and fits well in the palm of your hand. Cons: 1) First the backlight on this device ONLY ignites when you click one of the Start/Stop buttons. There is no independent button to turn the backlight on! Which means, if you want to check your pace and lap times etc., you have to wait until your under a light source to read it. 2) And the following is the primary reason I returned it. There is design flaw in the device so that it does not keep your existing Lap Times when you click the Stop Button. Instead whenever you click the stop button, it records that time sequence as a separate lap. I keep records of my lap times because I want to know that I am walking a consistent pace between established markers. This is what the stopwatch is doing: I am walking along and I reach a designated point and click the Lap Button (left side button with the face up), it instantly records the moment I click it. So far so good. That lap time was 13 minutes. I continue walking, but on my next lap around, my shoe has become untied. I stop the watch (Right side button) to retie my shoe and continue on with the walk by clicking the stop button a second time to restart the watch. Unbeknownst to me, what just happened is that it recorded 6 minutes as an independent lap and when I click the lap button on my finished lap, that one is 7 minutes! So no matter what button you click the stupid watch sees it a independent lap, even if the lap is only seconds from the last time you clicked the stop button! Fix your product!! Extremely disappointed. Obviously I don't recommend this stopwatch to others, unless you fall into that category of users where you would never need or use the Lap Button to record lap times and do not need the backlighting for dim light conditions, and getting it wet would never be a concern.

The buttons to start / stop and reset are not particularly good, as they are somewhat "squishy" in that you can press them but not trigger them, and there is no tactile feedback difference between a failed press and a correct one. For something that has 2 main buttons and whose entire purpose is pressing those buttons accurately it really should be much higher quality.
