When you go to elegoo.com and download the .zip for their nano with the ch340, there are a bunch of ch340 drivers. what are these for?

They are for different operating system, say win10 or Mac. Pls. download ans install the driver according to your system.

Does this have bootloader installed ?

I'm surprised by the previous answers - the instructions plainly tell you to install a bootloader. Without the bootloader it may sort of work, but I found that even a simple program would not run properly. So, I recommend resetting, loading the bootloader and then loading your program.

What is the max voltage to power it through vin pin? have used 12v no problem. want to try 16v. description at top says 6-20v, but later says 7-12v.

I have used 16v no problem but 12v is best. Have not used 16v for long duration however. Try it. If damaged it is only $4 lost

Can it be programmed thru the micro-USB port or do you need a special cable connected thru the 6-pin (2x3) header?

They can indeed be programmed through the USB. I haven't even soldered the six pin header on yet. (This package contains 3, and none of the pins are soldered on.) You do need a driver for the USB chipset, but it's easily found on Elegoo's website, and works just great. I really like mine.
