A: No they are not a bright white, and they will stain from coffee tea etc. would not purchase again.

**Q: Can you pour a bit of water on them and they absorb?**
A: I just tried them and it didn't seem to absorb the water.

I used to use stone coasters but I have had a number of them broken over the years due to them sticking to the bottom of the glass and then falling on the floor. I decided to replace those with these and I love them. They are absorbent and you can't break them! I ended up buying a second pack because I love them so much.
